There are countless awesome attractions in and around Rhode Island, and the Coventry Public Library is right in the thick of it all! Museum passes are available to all library members on a first come, first served basis. Read on below to learn about the great venues that partner with the library and what kind of benefits your library card can get you.
The Audubon Society of Rhode Island operates an Environmental Education Center that provides a fun learning experience for the whole family. The Audubon center is focused on education regarding birds and wildlife native to Rhode Island. Your library membership entitles you to free admission for 2 adults and 4 children under the age of 18.
Blithewold Mansion bills itself as “an American Garden treasure,” and it’s not hard to see why. The gardens reside on a 33-acre summer estate with an amazing view of Narragansett Bay. The property includes a 45-room mansion filled with Country Place Era heirlooms. With your library membership you can admit up to six people with $6 adult tickets and $1 children’s tickets. This is only available from April through October.
The Boston Children’s Museum in nearby Boston, Massachusetts, is one of America’s best-known children’s museums. The 100 year old museum has tons of programs for kids covering everything from arts to music to playtime. Your library card is good for half-price admission for up to four people.
The Boston Museum of Fine Art is well known for its incredible collection of historic paintings, sculptures and other works of art. They are best known for their enormous exhibit of Revolutionary-era Boston artwork and artifacts. You can get admission for just $10 for two people.
The Boston Museum of Science is a hands-on learning environment that includes both science exhibits and an indoor zoo. The Museum of Science grants library members $10 tickets for up to four people.
The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum is the Colonial-era farm house in which famous 19th-century portraitist Gilbert Stuart was born. The historic home includes artifacts, nature trails, and a gallery of Stuart’s work. You can get half-price admission for up to 2 adults and 2 children.
The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center is an incredible, hands-on museum of Native American history in New England. The Museum includes life-sized dioramas and a mock 16th century village. With your library card you are entitled to half price admission for either 1 adult and 3 children, or 2 adults and two children. This offer is only available Wednesdays through Saturdays. Wednesdays are only available through April each year.
The Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, Connecticut is an acclaimed aquarium that houses the only beluga whales in New England. The aquarium is also one of only three in the United States that houses Stellar sea lions. The aquarium offers library members $5 off admission for up to four people.
The Mystic Seaport is a functioning seaport in Mystic, Connecticut. Its primary attractions include coal-powered ships and a number of maritime-themed history exhibits. You can get half priced admission to the seaport for 2 adults and 3 children with your library card. The passes are limited to one per family at a time and must be returned after two days. You face a fine of $0.50 per day if the passes are returned late. Passes cannot be reserved.
The New England Aquarium is located in Boston. It includes a ton of aquariums including a giant ocean tank. The Aquarium also offers an IMAX theatre. You can get $10 tickets for up to 4 people. These passes are not available in July or August.
Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, is a living history museum that lets you explore 19th century New England living. The village includes costumed actors and artisans and a large array of artifacts. Daytime admission for half price is available for up to 4 people through your library card.
Take in a minor league baseball game with the Pawtucket Red Sox. Based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, this team is a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. With your library card you can get up to six $5 tickets, or a six-pack of tickets for $30.
The Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Massachusetts is a living history museum designed to replicate the original Plymouth Colony. The mock 17th century village includes costumed characters and artisans and has been a local favorite since 1947. You can get a total of 6 discounted tickets, which includes $16 adult tickets and $10 child tickets.
The Providence Children’s Museum is one of the oldest children’s museums in New England. The museum has a ton of fun activities for children including an underground tunnel maze. Your library membership is good for half-price admission for up to 4 people. Got EBT? You might get a better deal!
The Rhode Island School of Design Museum is a part of the famous RISD campus. The museum has been in operation since 1877 and is one of the 20 largest art museums in the United States. You can get free admission for up to 4 people with your Coventry Public Library card.
The Roger Williams Park Zoo has long been known as one of New England’s premiere zoos. The zoo has a large variety of animal exhibits and is well-known for their open, family friendly green space. You can get up to 4 tickets with a $3 discount with your library membership.
The Slater Historic Mill Site is a historic site in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. On the banks of the Blackstone River, the site is a historic textile mill and museum that was originally built in 1793. With your library card you can receive free admission for up to 2 adults and 2 children.

If the Coventry Public Library does one thing well it’s offer amazing free stuff on loan to library members. We’re not just talking about books, either. The library loan program has different rules on late fees, return policies, and holds; you can check out the full list of requirements for everything the library lends out here.
Read eBooks and digital content on the go when you borrow an eReader! The library has a number of Nook’s available to borrow. Nooks can be borrowed for up to three weeks with no renewals allowed. You can only check out on at a time and they carry a steep $5 per day late fee, so turn them in on time!
You can also learn how to bake with the library’s collection of cake and cookie pans you can check out with your library card. You can check out as many pans as you like and keep them for up to three weeks. The Library does allow one renewal, but after that a daily late fee of $.05 will apply.
Get out on the water after borrowing one of the libraries’ fishing poles. The Coventry Public Library offers fishing poles and tackle boxes that can be checked out like any book or DVD. There is no limit on the amount of fishing supplies you can check out, but the standard $0.10 late fee will apply.
Help your preschooler get a head start on reading with a Preschool Storytime Pack. Packs can be borrowed for up to three weeks and include a puppet, children’s story books, coloring sheets, toys, and finger puppets. Packs are limited to one per family and there is a $0.10 late fee per day.
Put on a puppet show with the libraries’ large collection of puppets available to be checked out. Puppets can be borrowed for three weeks with one renewal. You can check out as many puppets as you like, but there is a late fee of $0.10 per day per puppet.
