What We Do… and What We Don’t Do

Low Income Relief is an information service that connects approximately 250,000 people every month with benefits, programs and resources in their local communities.

We love to help our readers save money, find freebies and enjoy free admission to some of the coolest places in the US… but lately, there seems to be a lot of confusion about what we actually do.

What is Low Income Relief?

We are a small research team that investigates benefits, programs and organizations that help low income people live better. We love to research and write about programs that help you save money on your bills, get free stuff and improve your lives.

Low Income Relief is run by the owner, Nicole (that’s me!). I bought this domain in 2013 because I wanted to be able to help people find the resources they need when they’re struggling. I’ve been there myself and I know everyone needs help sometimes.

Fortunately, in 2017, Low Income Relief grew so dramatically that I’m no longer able to handle all the work on my own. Our research team has expanded to include other writers who research for us on a freelance basis.

What does Low Income Relief do?

We are always happy to help! Here are some of the ways we love to serve you:

  • We find and share information about programs, benefits, and resources that can help you.

I am constantly on the lookout for information that will benefit our audience. Whenever I find something that I think will interest you, I write it up and publish it here on the site.

That’s how we ended up with our series on surprising EBT benefits (like free museum admission) and free library benefits (like movie streaming)!

  • We research information based on your requests.

We also publish a lot of information by reader request. Readers leave comments with the information they would like us to research (such as the name of a power company). In fact, our entire power company and Christmas gifts series are written by request!

Since there are only a handful of us helping literally tens of thousands of people per month, we cannot estimate when or if the research will be completed. We do our best to help as quickly as we can.

  • We refer you to other agencies that can help.

Although our resources are limited, we are happy to point you in the direction of other agencies who may be able to help you.

What We Do NOT Do

Over the last several weeks, we’ve received countless requests for cash and other services that we do not provide. I have even been asked to ship Nintendo Switches and pay off mortgages.

Please pay attention to this list of services we do NOT provide:

  • We do NOT give cash, gift cards or other funds.

We receive thousands of heartfelt requests for help every month and we simply cannot help everyone individually. Therefore, Low Income Relief does NOT give out money, gift cards, gifts or other items. We do NOT donate to GoFundMes or other fundraisers.

We are happy to point you in the direction of agencies that can assist you or suggest alternatives (like saving money on your power bill so you can free up some of your own money for rent) but we cannot and will not give you cash, gift cards or other items upon request.

  • We cannot help you find a rental.

Housing listings change frequently and we cannot keep up with low income housing listings nationwide. We’re happy to make lists of affordable housing providers, but we cannot keep track of what is available and what is on a waitlist. It is simply not within the scope of what we can do.

To find affordable housing in your area, I recommend reaching out to your local United Way. They can usually point you in the right direction.

  • We do not make any guarantees or promises regarding what you may receive from someone else.

We research every article thoroughly and present the information as we find it. However, programs change often. There may be terms, conditions, closing dates, sign up deadlines and other factors we are not aware of. Per our terms and conditions, we do not guarantee that you will be served by any of the agencies we recommend or write about on our site.
