Need a little Christmas help in Utah? There are many organizations and agencies that can provide your family with free Christmas gifts, free Christmas food and so much more!

At Low Income Relief, our team has personally experienced what it’s like to be unable to provide for our families during the holiday season. It’s heartbreaking to know that the holidays are coming up and your children aren’t going to get the incredible celebration they deserve. That’s why we’re trying to help families all over the US find help this holiday season!

Get Free Christmas Help in Utah

While these agencies are part of a larger nationwide network group, they operate at a local level to serve communities. These organizations have a presence in Utah and may be able to help you.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army provides help to low-income families in need of Christmas gifts and other resources during the holiday season and different times of the year.

You might be able to get help from the Salvation Army with specific toys for your children. They often let your children make a few specific wishes through their Angel Tree program.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: This program typically provides free Christmas help for children ages 12 and under. Seniors may be eligible in some areas.

HOW TO APPLY: You can apply on the Angel Tree website in most areas. If your area doesn’t accept online applications yet, you can use this online tool to contact your nearest Salvation Army branch.

Toys for Tots

You might be able to get help from Toys for Tots. This program, administered by the Marine Corps Reserve, has spread holiday cheer around the United States since 1947!

This program gathers toy donations from many different areas and then distributes those toys to people who need them. They distribute toys to families in most parts of Utah. There are only 13 counties in the state that do not have a Toys for Tots program.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: This program typically serves children who are ages 12 and under.

HOW TO APPLY: Go to ToysforTots.org and click the big red “Request a Toy” button to get started.

Flaming Gorge Food Pantry in Manila may provide a Christmas food box when they have sufficient donations.

Duchesne County

Duchesne County Food Pantry in Roosevelt provides families with up to 14 food boxes per year. They also provide special holiday boxes for Thanksgiving and Christmas when donations allow.

Westside Food Pantry in Duchesne is also part of the same network as the Duchesne County Food Pantry. They may also provide Christmas help for holiday meals when donations allow.

Salt Lake County

Candy Cane Corner in Salt Lake City is a special holiday program that helps families who are already receiving services from either The Road Home or Volunteers of America Utah. You will need to speak with your case manager to get a Candy Cane Corner voucher.

Catholic Community Services of Utah helps refugees, low-income, and homeless of all ages with groceries, meals, and other kinds of aid. They help serve daily meals, including holiday meals, at six homeless shelters in Salt Lake County.

Crossroads Urban Center in Salt Lake City operates food pantries and a thrift store. This charity is operated by United Methodist Women. They also host a Holiday Food Giveaway every year.

Hildegarde’s Pantry in Salt Lake City provides food and personal care items to over 1,200 families in Salt Lake each month. They may be able to help with your holiday meal.

Magna FACT in Magna provides a variety of helpful social services. These services can include help with household goods, clothing, baby needs, and more. It appears they may also offer holiday help.

Rescue Mission of Salt Lake in Salt Lake City offers emergency services like food, shelter, and clothing to the homeless and struggling. They offer food boxes, meals, bag lunches, clothes, showers and shaves, temporary shelter, and more.

The Giving Grinch in South Jordan serves children, seniors and first responders with Christmas help. Each person who receives help can receive socks, a coat, two outfits and a few items from their Christmas list. The family also receives a Christmas dinner, including a turkey and trimmings.

Sanpete County

Sanpete County Humanitarian Council coordinates the annual Sub for Santa campaign in this area. You do not have to pre-register but you do need to follow their Facebook page so that you are alerted about when and where the giveaway is happening. It usually occurs in early December.

Summit County

Christian Center of Park City hosts an annual Christmas program called Operation Hope. This program provides Christmas help to families who live in Summit and Wasatch Counties. You need to register in early November in order to get help.

Uintah County

Ashley Valley Food Pantry in Vernal provides monthly food boxes for families who need them. They may also provide two emergency boxes per year. If donations allow, they also provide special holiday boxes for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Utah County

Sub for Santa provides free Christmas gifts for children between 18 months and 16 years old. Older and younger children may be able to receive gifts if they have a sibling who qualifies for this program. You must meet income limits and live in Utah County in order to get help.

Wasatch County

CCPC in Park City serves Wasatch County families with their annual Operation Hope program. Registrations open in early November and fill up fast!

Washington County

Coins for Kids in St. George provides Christmas assistance to low income families in Southern Utah. They serve children between the ages of 2 and 17 years. If a qualifying child has an 18-year-old sibling who is still living at home and still attending school, they may also be able to receive help.

Weber County

Lantern House in Ogden may provide free Christmas gifts and meals to residents of their shelter.

Ogden-Weber Community Action Partnership appears to provide free Christmas help for families in Davis or Weber County. According to the United Way’s 211 service, this organization provides a Christmas carnival and Christmas store that can provide free Christmas gifts. Families may have to participate in a finance or parenting class before getting help.
