Salvation Army invites all low-income families to take part in their Angel Tree program which provides less fortunate children with Christmas gifts. Families create wish lists that get passed on to community members who will buy the items and deliver them before Christmas morning. In addition, they offer a soup kitchen serving hot meals everyday and hot holiday dinners on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Moreover, they also offer a food pantry that gives families enough food to feed their entire family for two weeks, containing non-perishable and perishable items. To take part in their services, applicants must have a valid form of identification for all adults in the household, have a social security card and birth certificate for everyone living in the home, have proof of income and a list of household expenses to check for income eligibility, have at least one child between the ages of newborn and 12 years old, and have documentation showing proof of current address within their service area.

Toys For Tots places several donation boxes and hold annual toy drives across every city in the U.S. to bring Christmas gifts to less fortunate children. These donated toys get delivered to families just before Christmas morning to make sure every child has something to open. Parents must register each child for the program by clicking on the request toys link on their website.
