As a thank you to all the veterans and those who have served our country, here is all you need to know about the Home Depot military discount!
In the past Home Depot only offered a veterans discount on holidays (like Memorial Day and Veterans Day). However, now the Home Depot military discount works every day! Veterans can use it in-store, online and over the phone. You can get 10% off per purchase up to $5,000. That means you could get up to $500 off your Home Depot bill!
Also, your 10% Home Depot military discount is good on sale items!
Keep in mind that details vary by location. Additionally, you should always call ahead to verify.
Who can use the discount?
All active duty, reservists, retired or disabled military personnel and their immediate families can use the discount. To receive the Home Depot military discount you must show military ID. The following I.D.s are generally accepted:
Common Access Card (CAC is a standard ID card issued to active duty and reserve personnel)
United States Uniformed Services Privilege and Identification Card:
Tan – Dependent of active duty member or retiree
Red – Retired reservist and reservist dependent
Blue – Retiree
A VA Medical Center “Veteran Identification Card” (it MUST state “Service Connected”)
If you do not have one of those I.D.s you can still take advantage of a 10% discount on holidays. Home Depot offers 10% off on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Veterans Day at all U.S. Home Depot stores for all other military veterans. However, military personnel cannot receive an additional 10% discount on holidays (since their merchandise is already 10% off).
Some veterans have trouble using the discount online. However, if it doesn’t work for you, then you can call customer care to order over the phone and still receive the 10% discount. Visit the Home Depot website to contact customer care.
Sadly, you cannot combine Home Depot Military discount on top of other discounts and coupons. You can use the discount on items that are on sale, but you cannot, for example, use the military discount and senior discount on the same purchase. You also cannot use the discount to purchase clearance-priced items, like refurbished lawnmowers.
Also, you cannot use the discount on installation products or services, gift cards, or special buy appliances. Additionally, the discount is only valid at U.S. locations.
Finally, if you have any questions about the Home Depot discount in a store, you can ask to speak to a store manager.
Home Depot’s Military Contribution
According to a Home Depot service representative, the purpose of the military discount is
“to thank them for their outstanding service to this nation and to help make their homes more comfortable and safe… Too many of our veterans and their families face major housing challenges, aggravated by issues like unemployment, age, and service-related disabilities.”
Besides the Home Depot Military Discount, Home Depot has given over a quarter of a billion dollars to veterans. Even more, since 2001 their donations have transformed over 37,000 homes and facilities. Learn more about The Home Depot Foundation here.
