For your convenience, we’ve organized our free and discounted museum admission list alphabetically by city. We’ve also used green titles so you can easily tell which museums accept out-of-state EBT cards!

It is important to remember that you cannot pay for admission with your EBT card. You will show the EBT card to receive the discount but you will need to pay the remaining admission price, if any, in cash or with a credit/debit card.

Chattanooga

Creative Discovery  Museum – $3 per person

Over 200,000 people per year explore the hands-on, interactive exhibits at Chatanooga’s Creative Discovery Museum – and now, EBT recipients can explore it at a discount!

Since November 2015, the Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga has offered discounted admission for families with TN food stamps cards.

Hunter Museum of American Art – $2 per person

The Hunter Museum of American Art showcases American artwork. Part of the collection dates back to the Colonial Period. The collection includes sculptures, photography, paintings, glass and more. It’s just $2 per person for you and 3 guests, with your EBT card!

Columbia

aMuse’um Children’s Museum – $2 per person or less

“The joyful mission of aMuse’um is to spark unbridled learning for young children from all backgrounds through play.” With an EBT card, up to four people can visit for Just $2 per person!

Harrogate

Abraham Lincoln Library & Museum – $1 per person

The Abraham Lincoln Library & Museum is located on the Lincoln Memorial University campus in Harrogate, Tennessee. The museum showcases revolving exhibits.

Knoxville

Museum of East Tennessee History – $2 per person

If you receive SNAP, WIC or TANF benefits, then you can visit the Museum of East Tennessee History for just $2 per person (up to four people). The museum showcases a permanent collection of more than 13,000 artifacts as well as various travelling exhibits.

Memphis

ArtsAccess – FREE

ArtsAccess helps low income residents get free tickets for certain events. You can reserve up to four tickets per family using an ArtsAccess card. You can click here to see a list of current ArtsAccess events.

To qualify for an ArtsAccess card, you must have TN food stamps, TennCare, Church Health or be disabled, age 65+ or a military family. You will need to apply at one of the locations on this list.

Blues Hall of Fame Museum – $3 per person or less

The Blues Foundation’s Blues Hall of Fame Museum offers robust exhibits and entertainment. There are interactive touchscreen displays and master databases with music, videos, stories and more. There are also hard-to-find album covers, photographs, guitars, unique art, costumes, tour jackets and more.

Memphis Botanic Garden – FREE

Low income families may qualify for free access through the Free Family Membership Program. This pass provides free admission for up to two adults and all children under 18 years old. Just show up with your Tennessee food stamps card to receive your membership! Thanks for the tip, East Memphis Moms!

Nashville

Adventure Science Center – $3 per person or $39 per family per YEAR

The Adventure Science Center offers a mix of permanent and revolving exhibits that engage children and adults alike! They also offer two separate low income assistance programs.

The Adventure Science Center also offers an Adventure Access program for low-income families. Families who qualify can purchase an annual general admission pass for just $39… and that gives the family admission for an entire year!

If you receive TN food stamps benefits, WIC or TANF  and have a Tennessee-issued photo ID, you can qualify for this program. Email [email protected] for more information or apply at the guest services desk. Be sure to bring your documentation!

Cheekwood Estate & Gardens$3 per person

If you have WIC, TANF or SNAP benefits, you can enjoy a discounted admission to Cheekwood. Up to four people can get a discount per EBT card.

Country Music Hall of Fame – $5 per family per YEAR

Local residents who receive TN food stamps can purchase a Family Membership for just $5 per year! That’s $95 off the regular price of $100! The memberships can be set up in-person by visiting the Membership Desk. This is part of their Community Counts program, and though it isn’t listed on their site, I just confirmed that as of March 2021, this membership is still available.

To qualify, you must show a driver’s license or permit, library card, passport or utility bill. You must also prove that you live in one of the following nearby Tennessee counties:

  • Cheatham
  • Davidson
  • Robertson
  • Rutherford
  • Sumner
  • Williamson
  • Wilson

Also as part of Community Countys, all local youth under 18 receive free general admission. Guests under 13 do need a chaperone, two of whom can qualify for a 25% discount with proof of residency. For students’ proof of residency, please wear a school t-shirt or present one of the following:

  • School ID
  • Library Card
  • Driver’s License or Permit
  • Passport
  • A recent report card

Frist Art Museum – $3 per person

The First Art museum occupies a 124,400 square foot facility. It’s enormous! The museum showcases local, state, regional, national and international exhibitions. You can visit for just $3 per person with your EBT card!

The Parthenon – FREE

The Parthenon in Nashville is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece, and stands as a monument to classical Greek architecture. Located in Centennial Park, it also serves as an art museum, housing a collection of 19th and 20th-century American art. Its centerpiece is a massive statue of Athena, reflecting the building’s original purpose as a temple. The Parthenon offers a blend of art, history, and architecture, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring Nashville’s cultural offerings.

Oak Ridge

Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge – FREE

Through the Museums for All program, you can get free admission at Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge when you visit with your EBT card and a photo ID!

Union Park

Discovery Park of America – FREE

The Discovery Park of America is on my destination list! This incredible venue includes a 100,000 square foot museum, a 50 acre heritage park and so much more! If you receive SNAP benefits, you can visit for FREE with up to three additional guests through their EBT discount program. That’s a savings of $87.96!

Hello, I am looking for some kind of help with getting my 75 yr old disabled mother put into a nursing home as I have been her care taker for the past 12 yrs going on 13 and I am disabled myself and I feel like I just can not give her the proper care she needs anymore and we just lost our rental housewe were only in for 3 months due to the man I was in a relationship with that lived with us suddenly passed away in Feb of this year and we could not afford to stay at the rental house without a 3rd person helping us pay the rent and utilities so I have had to get us moved and where I am at now is really not such a good place for my mom to be but I have no other choice but to keep her with me because we have no one to fall back on or ask for help from. I am at my witts end and feel like something has got to give and help me get her placed somewhere so she can get the proper care she deserves and needs that I just can not give anymore. I am located in Dickson, Tn at the moment but want to go back to Hermitage Tn where we had our rental home we were evicted from. Please help me . Thanks
