The Los Angeles Public Library offers some pretty impressive freebies to its patrons. In addition to unlimited access to its collections and books, you’ll also be able to receive access to downloadable e-books, subscription services and more.
With your LAPL card, you’ll be able to access downloadable material from Biblioboard, Digitalia, Freegal, Hoopla, The New York Times, Kanopy, One Click Digital, OverDrive, PressReader, Zinio, ALOUD Podcasts, LA in Focus Videos and more. These vendors provide movies, books, articles, images, pictures, music, comics, TV shows, audio books and so much more.
Students can also access Live Homework Help through the Los Angeles Public Library. Online tutors are standing by daily between 11am and 11pm for one-on-one assistance with homework and test prep. Whether you’re a kindergartner or an adult learner, over 3,000 online tutors are available to assist you with questions you may have about math, science, English, writing, foreign language and social studies.
If you’re interested in online learning, the Los Angeles Public Library can help you with that also! Through your library card, you can also receive access to Digitalia Public Library, Gale Courses, Learning Express Library, Lynda.com, Mango Languages, Powerspeak Languages, Testing & education Reference Center and Universal Class. These services provide access to thousands of online courses in foreign languages, cooking, business, crafts, psychology, technology, personal development, writing and more.
The Los Angeles Public Library can even help you discover the history of your house!
Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Public Library does not offer any museum passes to its patrons. However, any California resident can obtain a library card to the County of Los Angeles Public Library – and that museum participates in the Discover and Go museum pass program!
