Keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer can be expensive—especially if your home has hidden air leaks or poor insulation. But thanks to a new program in La Crosse, homeowners can now get a free energy assessment to help identify problem areas, seal up leaks, and reduce energy costs.
For qualifying homeowners, this means a no-cost home energy checkup that can help lower monthly bills and make your home more comfortable.
Why This Matters for You
Many homes lose heat and air conditioning without homeowners even realizing it. Drafts and leaks make it harder for your furnace and air conditioner to do their job—causing your energy bills to go up. You might think windows are the main issue, but most leaks actually come from places like:
- Gaps in the attic and basement
- Areas where pipes or wires enter the home
- Spaces around vents, doors, and older insulation
Fixing these leaks with simple solutions like weather stripping, spray foam, and caulk can make a huge difference in your energy costs. Just ask La Crosse resident Rebecca Schwarz, who received an assessment and found out that her kitchen had never been properly heated or cooled. After the repairs, she finally felt warmth in her kitchen for the first time.
