If you’re looking for help this November, you’re in luck. There are free groceries, holiday meals, cash grants, and even class-action settlements available across the country. Many of these offers are open to people with SNAP or TANF benefits, veterans, parents, or business owners—so there’s something here for just about everyone.
Grocery and Meal Help This Month
GoPuff is offering up to $50 in free groceries for SNAP recipients. You can use the promo code SNAPRELIEF1 from November 1–15 for $25 off eligible groceries, and then use SNAPRELIEF2 from November 16–30 for another $25 off. You just need to have your SNAP EBT card added to your GoPuff account.
Propel, the app that helps you track your EBT balance, is offering $50 cash cards to select households with three or more members who receive the maximum SNAP benefit. These payments are limited and chosen by eligibility. You’ll need to keep the Propel app installed and check your notifications for updates.
We’re also giving away a free stress relief workbook called Mastering Your Circles. It’s a short, simple journal with quick daily exercises that can help reduce anxiety. You can download it from our HOPE website.
Thanksgiving and Christmas Assistance
Ibotta is once again offering 100% cashback on select Thanksgiving items. New users can get a free turkey and sides. Existing users can unlock the offer by referring someone who then redeems a receipt. Free side dishes unlock every Monday throughout the month. You can get started with our Ibotta page.
Other groups like Operation Turkey, Thanksgiving Heroes, and Lerner & Rowe are also helping families this season. To see what’s available near you, check our full Thanksgiving list.
For Christmas help, it’s important to act early. Programs like Angel Tree and Toys for Tots begin taking signups in November, and many close before December starts. You may need proof of income, ID, or residency. You can find local Christmas help on our Christmas programs page.
Veterans and military families can enjoy free meals from several restaurants on Veterans Day, November 11. Some of the confirmed offers this year include Applebee’s, Chili’s, Freddy’s (which is handing out meal cards valid through the end of the year), and Red Robin. For more participating restaurants, visit our Veterans Day list.
Emergency Cash, TANF, and Grocery Help
Some states are offering extra TANF payments or emergency cash to help families during the shutdown. Unlike SNAP, TANF funds are more flexible at the state level. You can find updates for your area on our TANF guide.
SNAP benefits are also being affected in some states due to the ongoing funding issues. Some states are supplementing with their own relief, while others are cutting benefits temporarily. To check what’s happening in your state, visit our SNAP shutdown updates.
If someone in your home works in food or beverage service, CORE may be able to help. Their Groceries with Gratitude program offers e-gift cards that can feed a family for about five meals. The deadline to apply is November 24, and you can do that through our CORE page.
Grants for Business Owners and Entrepreneurs
Gusto is offering up to $40,000 in advertising and perks for community-minded businesses. Their deadline is November 21. You can learn more here.
Galaxy Grants is awarding $2,500 to a woman- or minority-owned business. Applications are open through November 30. You can review the program details and submit your application online.
Other helpful opportunities include Camp Fire, which offers camp scholarships for low income kids in Seattle. Veterans in New Hampshire or Maine can also receive $20 market vouchers each time they visit select winter markets—check the list of locations for more information.
Women who are raising children and pursuing college can still apply for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award. That’s open through mid-November and you can learn more at the Soroptimist website.
