Abundant Life Church offers the Helping Hands Food and Clothes Closet which distributes food and clothes to those in need. Christmas baskets are also distributed to families in need every year.
Auburn Food Closet offers their services to low-income and working poor residents living in Loomis to Alta and all the way to the Foresthill community. They offer Christmas gifts in the form of books and they proportion enough food to feed the entire family for three days, hygiene products, diapers, and birthday bags for children.
California Backyard hosts their annual Give A Tree program each year to help make the holidays brighter for low-income and working poor families receiving assistance from the Salvation Army. Each year, community members donate artificial trees (bring in your old tree for a 10% discount in the store), to their organization which are then given to the Salvation Army.
Salvation Army offers multiple assistance programs for families in need during the holidays and throughout the year. They have the Angel Tree program, connecting families in need with sponsors who buy Christmas presents from the families wish list and delivers them just before Christmas. They also offer the food pantry for free bags of groceries and holiday dinner boxes containing turkey and all the traditional holiday toppings and a soup kitchen serving hot meals daily and hot holiday meals on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. To qualify for their programs, applicants must have a social security card or birth certificate for everyone living in the home, have a valid form of identification, have proof of income and expenses, and have at least on child aged newborn to 12 years old living in their home full-time.
Toys For Tots receives new, unopened toys from community members, organizations, and charities to provide children of low-income families with presents during the holiday season. They bring these toys to the children just before holidays, allowing each child to find a gift under the tree Christmas Morning. Parents must register their child for their program by clicking on the request toys link on their website and filling out the registration form. More so, applicants must have a social security card or birth certificate for everyone living in the home, have proof of income and household expenses, have a valid form of identification, and have at least one child aged newborn to 16 years old living in the home full-time.
