Double Up Food Bucks in Oregon gives you the opportunity to double the value of your SNAP EBT food benefits. This program will give you extra money that you can use to buy healthy fruits and vegetables from your local farmers market, grocery store, farm stands or Community Supported Agriculture programs!
In this article, we’ll discuss what this program is, who is eligible for it, how it works, and what locations are currently offering these benefits.
What is Double Up Food Bucks in Oregon?
This program provides up to $20 per day in free locally grown fruits and vegetables to shoppers who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits.
It’s a dollar-matching program, so to get $20 in free produce you have to first spend $20 on your SNAP card. That means you’ll take home $40 in produce for just $20. If you spend less than $20, you’ll receive an amount equal to what you spent. If you spend more than $20, you’ll still only get $20 because that’s the daily limit on this program.
This is the Oregon branch of the national Double Up Food Bucks movement. This is a nationwide organization that helps establish nutrition incentives at your local farmers markets, farmers and even grocery stores. The goal is to empower low income Americans to make healthier food choices by giving them extra money for nutritious fruits and vegetables.

Who is eligible for Double Up Food Bucks in Oregon?
This program is available to anyone who shops at a participating location with SNAP food benefits. You don’t even have to be an Oregon resident as long as you shop at a participating market!
Unfortunately, EBT cash shoppers are not eligible to participate. Although some states have added EBT cash, SFMNP and FMNP benefits to their double-up programs, Oregon has not yet done so. So far, they only double the value of your SNAP benefits.
How does it work?
The process varies depending on what kind of establishment you are visiting. That’s because the checkout process at a grocery store is a lot different than the experience of shopping at your local Oregon farmers market.
CSA Programs
If you want to Double Up at your local CSA, you’ll need to find a farm. You can do this by using the locator tool or by emailing info@pnwcsa.org and asking to be matched to a participating farm. You’ll need to contact the farmer and sign up for a share. Make sure you pay with your Oregon Trail EBT card!
The Double Up Food Bucks in Oregon are applied automatically to your account when you sign up with a participating CSA program.
Farmers Markets
At the Farmers Market, you’ll need to visit the information tent to get started. You’ll swipe your EBT card in exchange for tokens, which you can use to buy SNAP-eligible items from the different vendors at the market.
You’ll receive one set of tokens for what you spent and a different voucher of equal value that can be redeemed for fresh fruits and vegetables. You can use the tokens on any EBT-eligible item at the market, but the Double Up Food Bucks in Oregon can only be used to buy certain things.

If you visit a participating farm stand, you’re only working with one vendor so you should be able to shop normally. Just make sure you ask about Oregon’s Double Up Food Bucks program when you check out!
Grocery Stores
Grocery stores handle this program differently. When you shop at a participating grocery store, only the money you spend on fruits and vegetables will count toward the dollar-matching program.
That means if you buy $50 worth of groceries on your EBT card but only $7 of that purchase was fresh fruits and vegetables, you’ll only receive an extra $7 in Double Up Food Bucks.
Grocery stores will give you that extra as a coupon or a credit on a customer loyalty card. You’ll have to redeem those incentives on your next visit, although you can usually use them immediately. You just have to go back through the store again to get them.
