Joseph Thomas Foundation
The Joseph Thomas Foundation provides financial assistance to families who have a medically fragile child. The financial assistance could theoretically be used to help cover the veterinary costs of that child’s service animal. However, the funds cannot be used to cover expenses already paid. Funds are only awarded for purchases that haven’t been made yet.
In order to be eligible, the child must be under age 21 and experience severe limitations to one or more major life activities due to a mental or physical impairment. The impairment could be genetic or the result of an accident, injury or disease. You must also meet income limits and other restrictions.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels Pet Program
The Lubbock Meals on Wheels Pet Program primarily focuses on providing free pet food to low income seniors, as described below. However, their website also indicates that they are able to assist with limited veterinary care expense assistance and even boarding for those who need it.

Lubbock Animal Shelter Helping Paws

Lubbock Meals on Wheels Pet Program
Over 400 dogs and cats receive their monthly food from the Lubbock Meals on Wheels Pet Program! This program specifically provides dry dog and cat food to people who are already receiving Meals on Wheels but can’t afford to feed their pets.
In order to be eligible for Meals on Wheels, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be homebound (or require assistance to leave your home).
- You must be unable to prepare well-balanced meals consistently.
- You usually need to show that you don’t have anyone available to make meals for you (such as someone who lives with you, although there are exceptions to this rule).
