There are different things you might be able to get from law students depending on where they’re at in their schooling.
The UNC law library could help you with legal advice. If you cannot get legal aid of NC and you have to represent yourself, you might be able to do it with the help of the law library. You can find forms, options and other things that might make it easier for you if you have to represent yourself in a legal case. If you are a survivor of hurricane Florence, you might be able to get free legal aid! Whether you need help with landlord-tenant issues, help with your home or even mortgage problems, you could be able to find it through legal aid of NC. There are certain allowances for people involved in hurricanes or severe natural disasters and you could qualify!
Survivors of other hurricanes may also be able to get help with legal aid. It’s important to apply for legal help as soon as possible because it could become less of a possibility the longer you wait.
Visit the bar association to possibly find legal aid of NC.
Even if you’re unable to find help through legal aid of NC, you might be able to get help through the bar association. While the bar doesn’t offer help directly, they do have a list of attorneys who help pro bono. This means you could get free legal representation. The bar association may also have a list of attorneys who are willing to do work with payment plans.
You could find help from the ACLU.
The ACLU doesn’t take cases very often, but if you feel you have a case that has extenuating circumstances, you might be able to get help through the ACLU. You’ll need to present your case to the ACLU. Do not be discouraged if you don’t hear back from them right away!
