    Illinois

The Illinois disbursement schedule is a little crazy. We requested additional information from the Illinois government because the only description we could find was this:

“Benefits are made available on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 17th and 20th of every month, based on a combination of the type of case and the case name.”

However, I received an email from Terri Vaniter at the Illinois DHS Bureau of Policy today (5/16/2019) with the following details:

“SNAP cases approved on or after 10/24/2017 are assigned a Regular Availability Date based on the last digit of the Head of Household’s Individual I.D. If the ID ends in 1, the availability date is the 1st. If the end ends in 2, the availability date is the 2nd. If the ID ends with 0, the availability date is the 10th, etc.”

However, cases that were opened before October 24, 2017, are still on the more complicated schedule. This is the schedule for cases opened before that date:

    • Medical cases for Aged, Blind and Disabled with SNAP – 1st
    • Medical cases for parents and children with SNAP (Last Name A-F) – 13th
    • Medical cases for parents and children with SNAP (Last Name G-N) – 17th
    • Medical cases for parents and children with SNAP (Last Name O-Z) – 20th
    • SNAP Only (A-Ch) – 3rd
    • SNAP Only (CI-HI) – 5th
    • SNAP Only (HJ-PL) – 6th
    • SNAP Only (PM-Z) – 9th
    • Cash/Medical/SNAP for Aged, Blind and Disabled – 8th

I think we can all be grateful that Illinois simplified their system in 2017, right?
