Counties sometimes offer assistance to homeowners who need help with their home repairs for neighborhood beautification and other reasons. Check out below what your county has to offer!

Calhoun County

Michigan home repair grants might be available to residents who live in Battle Creek. The city has a minor home repair program that might be able to help you get the repairs you need to your home. You could qualify for up to $12,000 toward repairs if you meet income guidelines and other requirements set by Battle Creek!

Genesee County

If you’re a Flint resident, you might be able to get Michigan home repair grants. These grants might be available to help you upgrade your home to fit safety standards. Kalamazoo County

Habitat for Humanity offers a three Home Repair programs for qualified homeowners. You must live in the home full-time and be current on your housing expenses in order to qualify. The programs include Critical Home Repairs, Weatherization Assistance and Exterior Home Repairs.

Kalamazoo City may have HOME Program funds available for homeowners and buyers. Local governments can choose to spend these funds on a variety of services and it is not clear if Kalamazoo City provides grants directly to homeowners or not. You will need to contact them to find out for sure.

Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services Inc. provides rehabilitation and repair loans at a very low cost to low income homeowners in Kalamazoo County. In order to qualify, you must own a single-family home, townhome or condo in Kalamazoo County. You must also meet income limits.

Portage provides a Housing Assistance Program for low income residents. You may receive emergency grants up to $1,000. They also offer deferred loans of up to $20,000 for housing rehabilitation. These loans are provided at either 0% interest or 3% interest and can be used for a variety of purposes. You do not have to make any payments on this loan as long as you live in the home.

Kent County

Are you in Grand Rapids? You might be able to get help with Michigan home repair grants. There are grants available to people who live in Grand Rapids and need help making their home safer and more comfortable to live in. You’ll need to meet certain requirements to get approved for the grants from the city.

Funding is based on first-come, first served basis so make sure you apply for help as soon as you know you’re going to need it!

Oakland County

The Farmington Hills Planning and Community Development Department might be able to help you upgrade your home. The Oakland County Advantage program might have help for people who need to upgrade their home.
