SoloSuit has an easy-to-use format that will guide you through the process of filing an official Answer to the court. I’ve used it myself. All you need is the Summons and Complaint you were served with, and you’ll be able to answer all of the questions. At the end, the SoloSuit system will generate an answer that you can send to the court.
The basic service is free but for just $15 you can also have them mail the Answer to the Court and the Plaintiff. I highly recommend this $15 service because it’s so much easier than printing and delivering the copies yourself. Again, I’ve used that service – and paid that fee – myself. It’s very effective!

These organizations that could help you with a free attorney. We’ve found many resources available for residents of Vermont who qualify for legal assistance. Many organizations work only with people facing civil cases. If you’re facing a criminal case, you might need the help of a public defender.
You could qualify for Vermont legal aid.
You could get free legal help through the Vermont Legal Aid organization. This organization works with people who are low-income and meet their qualifications. There are some instances where you might be able to find resources that could direct you to volunteer lawyers willing to represent you in court for free.
Legal Services of Vermont could provide you with help through pro bono attorneys. This type of legal help might make it easier for you to get assistance and find an attorney who can represent you in court. There are options available that might make it easier for you to get assistance, but you’ll need to meet the income and other requirements in place for the program.
While representing yourself probably wasn’t your first choice, help could be available if you have to. Vermont’s Free Legal Answers program could help you find the information you need to make representing yourself less of a burden. If you can’t qualify for Vermont legal aid, you might still be able to get help. Your first instinct might be to turn to the ACLU, but they might not be able to represent you. In fact, they do not typically provide representation for simple civil rights violation cases. Instead, they have information that can connect you with attorneys.
