In this article, we’ll discuss all the different Cox low income internet plans so that you can figure out which one is best for you.

    Cox Low Income Programs

As of January 2025, there are two different programs available that may be able to help you:

    • Connect2Compete: This program offers discounted internet service for just $9.95 per month to eligible low income students.
    • ConnectAssist: This program provides discounted internet service to low income people who receive help from certain qualifying government programs. If your are eligible, this program drops your bill to just $30 per month.

Many people have asked us if Cox offers free internet for seniors. I believe that’s because the ACP program used to fully cover the $30 cost for ConnectAssist, which helped many low income seniors obtain completely free internet service. Unfortunately, the ACP program has ended. It does not look like Cox currently offers any free internet for seniors. The plan is back to the usual $30 a month.

    Connect2Compete

If you have an eligible K-12 student in your household, you may be eligible for the Connect2Compete program. Let’s dive in and quickly evaluate if this program is right for you.

    • Price: $9.95 per month
    • Speeds: Max download speed of 100 Mbps, upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps
    • Data Limits: 1.25 TB per month
    • Contract: There is no long-term contract.
    • Extra Fees: The modem lease and installation are included in the price.

When you sign up, you’ll also receive free internet access to over 4 million Cox-affiliated WiFi hotspots. That’s a great way to stay connected wherever you go!

You may be eligible for the Cox Connect2Compete program if:

    • You live in the Cox Communications service area.
    • You live in an area where the Connect2Compete promotion is available.
    • You have a K-12 student in your household.
    • Your household must participate in a means-tested government assistance program such as SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP, WIC, National School Lunch Program, Head Start, Section 8, or Public Housing.
    • You must not be a current Cox High Speed Internet customer and you cannot have had any Cox internet service within the last 90 days.

Since the program is only available to certain eligible customers, you may be asked to recertify your eligibility every year. If something happens and you no longer meet the terms of this program, you will have to choose a different Cox plan to keep your internet service connected.

As long as you remain eligible, you should be able to receive the Connect2Compete discount for at least two years based on the pricing details available on the Cox website.

If you’re interested in applying for Cox Connect2Compete, you can apply online. The first step is to provide your address to make sure that service is available in your area.

    ConnectAssist

If you don’t have an eligible K-12 student in your household, you may still be eligible for ConnectAssist. This program does not require you to have a child in your house. Let’s look at what this program offers:

    • Price: $30 per month
    • Speeds: Max download speed of 100 Mbps, upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps
    • Data Limits: 1.25 TB per month
    • Contract: There is no long-term contract.
    • Extra Fees: The modem lease and installation are included in the price.

In order to be eligible for this Cox low income internet plan, you must meet the following criteria:

    • You must live in the Cox Communication service area.
    • You must live in an area where the ConnectAssist promotion is available.
    • You must participate in a means-tested government assistance program such as SNAP, WIC, SSI, Public Housing, Pell Grants, Veterans Pensions, or certain Public Housing, Tribal or Medicaid programs.

You will be asked to periodically prove that you still meet the eligibility guidelines for this program. If your eligibility changes, you may need to pick a different Cox internet plan to keep your service connected.

If you want to apply for ConnectAssist, you can apply online. You will need to enter your address to make sure that you are in an eligible service area.

    Summary

If you are eligible for a Cox low income internet plan, you could receive internet for $10-$30 per month. This is still a great discount from their usual rates! Of course, if you’re looking for more affordable options, don’t forget to check if you’re eligible for free internet instead!
