How to Get the Free Cox Low Income Internet Plan

Connect2Compete for Kids

This program, called Connect2Compete, allows Cox Communication customers to get internet service for just $10 per month if they have an eligible K-12 student in their household.

What is the Connect2Compete program?

The Connect2Compete program provides discounted internet service to families who have K-12 students in their households. The plan is just $10 per month.

The Connect2Compete plan offers download speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps. The WiFi modem lease and self-installation service are all included in the price and there is no long-term contracts.

When you sign up, you’ll also receive free internet access to over 4 million Cox-affiliated WiFi hotspots. That’s a great way to stay connected wherever you go!

Who is eligible for Connect2Compete?

In order to be eligible for the Cox low income internet plan, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must live in the Cox Communications service area.
• You must live in an area where the Connect2Compete promotion is available.
• You must have a K-12 student in your household.
• Your household must participate in a means-tested government assistance program such as SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP, WIC, National School Lunch Program, Head Start, Section 8, or Public Housing.
• You must not be a current Cox High Speed Internet customer and you cannot have had any Cox internet service within the last 90 days.

Since the program is only available to certain eligible customers, you may be asked to recertify your eligibility every year. If something happens and you no longer meet the terms of this program, you will have to choose a different Cox plan to keep your internet service connected.

As long as you remain eligible, you should be able to receive the Connect2Compete discount for at least two years based on the pricing details available on the Cox website.

Need a computer?

When you are approved for the Cox low income internet plan, you’ll also have the option to purchase a low-cost computer from PCs for People.

This organization provides refurbished computers at a low price for people who meet their eligibility requirements. There are desktops, laptops and other devices available.

How to Apply for Connect2Compete

If you’re interested in applying for Cox Connect2Compete, you can apply online. The first step is to provide your address to make sure that service is available in your area.

Since the criteria for the Cox low income internet plan is similar to the criteria for the Affordable Connectivity Program, you may want to apply for the ACP as well. This program can provide a $30 subsidy on your internet bill, which would more than cover the $10 cost for the Connect2Compete program. That means that your internet bill could be completely paid by the ACP credit!

Each household can submit one application for service. If you apply multiple times, it can cause problems in the system and result in unnecessary delays.

ConnectAssist for Low Income People

If you don’t have an eligible K-12 student in your household, there’s another Cox low income internet program that may be able to help you. This one is called ConnectAssist and it does not require you to have a child in your house.

What is ConnectAssist?

ConnectAssist is a new Cox low income internet plan that serves low income people who don’t have a child in their household. The plan is $30 per month.

Through the ConnectAssist plan, customers will receive download speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 3 Mbps. The WiFi modem rental is included in the price of the plan. There are no long term contracts required and no fees for data overages.

Who is eligible for ConnectAssist?

In order to be eligible for this Cox low income internet plan, you must meet the following criteria:

• You must live in the Cox Communication service area.
• You must live in an area where the ConnectAssist promotion is available.
• You must participate in a means-tested government assistance program such as SNAP, WIC, SSI, Public Housing, Pell Grants, Veterans Pensions, or certain Public Housing, Tribal or Medicaid programs.

You will be asked to periodically prove that you still meet the eligibility guidelines for this program. If your eligibility changes, you may need to pick a different Cox internet plan to keep your service connected.

If you want to apply for ConnectAssist, you can apply online. You will need to enter your address to make sure that you are in an eligible service area.
