    From free farmer’s market produce to free transportation, there is so much your EBT card can do! It’s helpful for way more than just groceries. Check out these incredible discounts that may be available to you!

    Capital Bikeshare for All

    You can unlock unlimited 60 minute rides on classic bikes and e-bikes for just $5 per year (or $0 if you live in Montgomery County)! This offer can help everyone in your household who is at least 16 years old.

    All you need to do is show your EBT card, Medicaid letter, VA letter, SSI or SSDI statement, or discounted utility bill in order to qualify. You’ll need to work with a Community Partner to apply.

    Metro Lift Discounts

    If you receive SNAP benefits on your EBT card, you can also get 50% off your Metrobus and Metrorail trips for Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC! This discount does not apply to pass products or MetroAccess, though.

    When you enroll, you’ll need to provide proof of EBT, a photo ID, and phone number. However, you will need to show your SNAP Benefits Summary to enroll other members of your household. You can enroll online.

    Free Farmer’s Market Produce

    DC Health runs a program called Produce Plus. This program provides a $40 voucher that can be used to buy fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and fresh-cut herbs at participating farmers’ markets.

    In order to qualify, you must be at least 16 years old, a DC resident, and receive benefits from one of several qualifying programs. If you have an EBT card, you likely already qualify because SNAP, WIC, and TANF are on the list of qualifying programs. People who get CSFP, SSDI, and Medicaid can qualify as well.

    You just need to enroll every year. Applications begin in April, and you can apply online or over the phone. There is not enough funding for everyone who is eligible, so make sure that you apply early and check back often for updates.

    Admission Discounts in DC

    There are many destinations in DC that offer you a discount if you have an EBT card. Just remember that you can’t use your SNAP funds to pay for the remaining cost (if there is any).

    Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens

    Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens in Washington, D.C., offers a stunning escape with beautiful gardens and fascinating treasures, including rare Russian art and elegant French décor.

    You can get four free tickets with your EBT card when you show the card at the visitor center desk. Hillwood also participates in Blue Star Museums discounts as well.

    International Spy Museum

    Learn about the exciting world of spies at the International Spy Museum! The Museum will teach you about cover identities, spy skills, spy history and villains. Interactive spy experiences are also available.

    This museum participates in Museums for All. They charge $3 per person for up to four guests who are at least seven years old. Children six and under are free.

    Museum of the Bible

    The Museum of the Bible has interactive exhibits that help people experience the Bible in different ways. They have joined Museums for All, so you can get up to four tickets for just $5 or less per ticket.

    National Building Museum

    The National Building Museum focuses on architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, constructions and all aspects of the building environment. They welcome guests for FREE when you can show your SNAP EBT card! You can get up to four tickets per visit.

    National Children’s Museum

    If you’ve got EBT benefits, you can submit a request online to receive the Museums for All discount rate. You can receive up to four tickets for $3 each. A ticket is required for all guests over 1 year old. They also offer other discounts through their Community Access Program.

    President Lincoln’s Cottage

    Explore the 250 acre campus that surrounds Abraham Lincoln’s cottage. Admission is free to people who receive SNAP benefits. It is recommended that you reserve your tickets online in advance.

    Tudor Place

    Tudor Place is a historic house that sits in a 5.5 acre garden. It contains over 18,000 decorative objects, which is the largest Washington Collection outside of Mount Vernon itself.

    You can explore Tudor Place at a discount when you have an EBT card. As a Museums for All partner, they should not charge you more than $5 for admission per person. However, since their overall admission structure is based on suggested donation, it could be less than that.

    • Shop smart. You can spend your SNAP money at Costco, Sam’s Club, many Farmer’s Markets and Community Supported Agriculture Programs. You can even use SNAP dollars at some farm stands, U-Pick fields and more.
    • Shop smart to get cash back. If you shop with a rewarded shopping app like Ibotta or Swagbucks, you can get cash back on your grocery purchases. Start now.

      1. Freshfarm matches up to $30 a visit when you take out funds (turn them farmers market bux). Half of the bux will be produce only and the rest for produce or not but not ready to eat hot food (meat, honey, and baked goods are fine). They also have a really deep discount for their version of produce shares in season ($6 for the small) but you have to pay with EBT. They also have produce plus where in season you get a set amount to use towards free produce.
