How can I find my local Salvation Army community centers?

To find your local Salvation Army community center, here are the following steps:

  • Go to the Salvation Army USA website.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the website’s homepage until you see the section titled “See What’s Happening at Your Local Salvation Army”.
  • Type in your ZIP code, city, or state into the box, then click “See What’s Happening”.

When you are taken to the new webpage, you should see a list of categories at the top that you can click on. Click on the ones that relate to the services you are in search of, and the website will search for community centers in your area that provide the services you are looking for.

You can scroll down and look at all of the centers that are available to you in your local area. The website will provide the physical address of the location as well as a phone number and website if such information is available.

How can I apply for programs at my local Salvation Army community center?

Once you’ve found your local Salvation Army community center, first check with them to make sure that they have the programs you want to apply for. You can check by visiting the center’s website, sending an email, calling them, or visiting their office in person.

Next, you will want to review the qualifications of the programs to ensure that you have a chance of being accepted. You can check through the same methods: visiting the center’s website, sending an email, calling them, or visiting their office in person.

When you are confident that you qualify for the program, be sure to gather all documentation you may need before starting the application process. The center should inform you what is needed, but to be safe, it is recommended to bring the following documents:

  • Photo identification
  • Utility bills or a shut-off notice
  • Proof of residence, such as your lease
  • An eviction notice
  • A doctor’s note verifying a medical condition (if applicable)

If uncertain, it’s best to ask ahead of time what you will need to bring.

Depending upon the program, you may need to set up a phone or in-person appointment in order to fill out your application. The process will vary based upon your center and the program’s specific guidelines and procedures.
