Don't know if there's one in your area, but check out a charitable organization called Love in the Name of Christ, aka Love Inc. They help out families with transportation needs, even to the point of providing cars (used but working). They're also a good information clearinghouse to point ypu to others that may help. I'm not just passing on info here. My mom got a car from them.
