The Pell Grant is a federal grant that can help cover college expenses for single parents. In addition, many colleges and organizations offer scholarships specifically for single moms and dads. Down Payment Grants
Buying a home can be difficult, especially when you’re trying to do it with only one income. Fortunately, there are many low income homebuyer programs and down-payment assistance programs that help single moms and dads buy homes. TANF, or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, is a government program that provides cash to low income families. You could receive a monthly grant for up to 60 months – that’s 5 years of assistance!
Diversion Cash Assistance is another type of grant that is used to help support single moms and dads who are experiencing a short-term financial crisis. These grants are usually only available for 1-3 months, but they often offer higher amounts than traditional TANF services.
Food Stamps, also known as The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, provides monthly money that can be used to purchase groceries for your family. In 2021, a single mom with two kids could receive up to $535 per month!
