What is the Emergency Shelter Grants Program?
The Emergency Shelter Grants Program was revised to the Emergency Solutions Grants Program by the Hearth Act. This program provides funding in order to:
- Improve the number and quality of emergency shelters for homeless individuals and families
- Operate these shelters
- Provide essential social services to shelter residents
- Prevent families and individuals from becoming homeless
- Rapidly re-house homeless individuals and families
Please note, this program provides funding to metropolitan cities, urban counties, territories, and states. It does not fund individuals.
Am I eligible for the Emergency Shelter Grants Program?
Unfortunately, since this program only provides funding to cities, counties, territories, and states. Individual people or families cannot apply for benefits.
