How to Get Free Amazon Gift Cards (+ Other Gift Cards Too)

Free Amazon gift cards are everywhere if you know where to look! If you’re wondering how to get them, you’ve come to the right place. We have found many legitimate ways to earn them, from government benefits to easy online activities.

Government Programs

Did you know that many government programs actually offer gift cards as incentives for participating in certain activities? It’s true! From completing surveys to taking educational courses, there are many hidden opportunities to earn rewards.

Free Amazon Gift Cards from SNAP

Believe it or not, some SNAP programs do this, too! The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is all about helping people access healthy food, and many states have incentive programs to encourage healthy habits. These can include rewards for things like taking nutrition classes or completing surveys about your shopping experience.

For example, Double Up Food Bucks is part of a larger network of programs called GusNIP, or the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program. GusNIP programs are all about promoting healthy eating and supporting local farmers by offering incentives to EBT shoppers.

Many of GusNIP programs offer incentives like dollar-matching your EBT for buying fruits and vegetables or providing free food vouchers for completing nutrition education courses. Some programs even offer gift cards!

I recently learned that Double Up Food Bucks Mississippi has a program that makes it super simple. They’ve installed nutrition education kiosks at the Piggly Wiggly in Iuka and Vowel’s Marketplace in Byrum. All you have to do is stop by and watch four short videos – they only take about five minutes total – and you’ll be entered to win a free $40 Amazon gift card. It couldn’t be easier!

And that’s not all! If you happen to see a Double Up Food Bucks outreach coordinator while you’re shopping at a market or grocery store, you might be able to participate in a quick 5-minute survey that also offers gift cards as a reward. How cool is that?

Now, not every Double Up Food Bucks location offers these gift card opportunities, but it’s definitely worth asking about. To find out if your state offers SNAP incentive programs like this, simply search online for your state’s name along with “SNAP incentives” or “Double Up Food Bucks.” You can also check with your local SNAP office or farmers market for more information.

Don’t forget that you can also get 50% off your Amazon Prime membership if you have EBT as well. Sign up for Amazon Access to start saving right away.

Even if your local program doesn’t offer gift cards, getting involved is still a fantastic idea. At the very least, you can get access to extra fresh produce for free, which is a huge benefit in itself!

Free Gift Cards from Medicaid

And speaking of government programs, there’s another way you could be earning gift cards if you have Medicaid. This program can cover your healthcare costs. But did you know it could also help you score some free gift cards?

Yep, it’s true! Many states offer programs like “My Health Pays” that reward you for taking simple steps to improve your health. Think of it as getting paid to take care of yourself!

We’re talking about basic things like going to your annual checkups, getting your flu shot, or even attending a weight management class. And depending on where you live, you could earn up to $150 a year in rewards!

The rewards usually come as gift cards that you can use at popular retailers like Walmart or to cover everyday expenses like your phone bill or rent.

We’ve seen these programs in lots of states, from Alabama to Washington State! The easiest way to find out if your state offers these rewards is to simply search online for your state’s name plus “My Health Pays.” Or, just call the number on the back of your Medicaid card and ask about rewards or incentive programs.

And here’s a bonus tip. While you’ve got them on the phone, ask about any over-the-counter (OTC) benefits you might be eligible for too! Many Medicaid plans will cover up to $35 a month in over-the-counter items like vitamins, pain relievers, and even first aid supplies.

Nonprofits & Organizations

It’s not just government programs that offer gift card incentives. Nonprofits and community organizations often have their own programs to encourage participation or donations.

Free Gift Cards for Donating Blood

A great example of this is the American Red Cross. They regularly offer gift cards as incentives for blood, platelet, and plasma donations. In the past, we’ve seen them give out free Amazon gift cards worth $15-$20 for donating during specific periods.

To find out if there are any current offers in your area, just do a quick Google search for “Red Cross” and “gift card.” It’s a simple way to support a good cause and get rewarded for it!

And speaking of donations, another great way to earn some extra cash (or gift cards) is through plasma donation centers. BioLife Plasma Services, for example, states that new donors can make up to $800 through donations, referrals, and meeting donation goals.

It’s important to note that not all plasma donation centers offer gift cards specifically, but many do offer cash incentives. So it’s definitely worth doing your research to see what’s available in your area.

Free Gift Cards from Food Banks

There’s another way you might be able to get free gift cards, and it’s right in your community: your local food bank.

Many food banks offer gift cards as a way to help their clients, especially during the holidays like Christmas, birthdays, or summer months. These gift cards can be a huge help, covering essentials like toiletries or allowing you to choose specific foods that your family prefers.

The key here is to be proactive. These gift cards are typically only offered to people who are already registered with the food bank and using their services. So, if you think you could benefit from this, you’ll need to take action and register right away.

Remember, food banks are there to help. They understand the challenges people face, and they want to make sure you’re getting the support you need. So don’t be shy about asking if they have any gift card programs or other resources that could benefit you.

Free Amazon Gift Cards from Phone Apps

If you need a gift card right away, there are some fantastic apps that can help you do just that. These apps offer a variety of ways to earn points, which you can then redeem for gift cards to your favorite stores.

Three of the most popular options are Swagbucks, InboxDollars, and MyPoints. You can find my affiliate links for these apps at lirlinks.com/giftcards. Remember, using my links helps support this channel so I can keep bringing you awesome videos like this!

My personal favorite is Swagbucks. I’ve been using it for years and have earned hundreds of dollars in gift cards. In the last three months alone, I’ve earned about $50. I like to cash out on Amazon gift cards since I use that platform the most but there are a ton of other options if you prefer to shop somewhere else.

There are so many ways to earn with Swagbucks. You can take surveys, watch videos, play games, shop online, and even get cashback on your everyday purchases. One of my favorite things about Swagbucks is that they’ll reward you just for using the internet. You can set your default search engine to Swagbucks, so it’s a passive way to earn points just by doing what you normally do online.

And right now, you can get a $10 bonus just for signing up using my link! So why not give it a try?

Free Gift Cards on Social Media

Oh, and if you’re already spending time on social media, why not put it to good use and earn some free gift cards? It’s easier than you might think!

One of the easiest ways to find these giveaways is to follow relevant hashtags. On Instagram, for example, you can follow hashtags like #giveaway, #contest, #sweepstakes, #freebie, #freebiefriday, and #giftcard. This will put those posts right in your feed, so you don’t miss a chance to win. You can often find giveaways on Facebook, Twitter (or X, as it’s called now) and even YouTube.

The rules for entering vary depending on the contest, but they usually involve simple tasks like following the account, liking the post, tagging friends, or sharing the post on your own profile.

A quick word of caution: Always be wary of contests that seem too good to be true. Legitimate giveaways will never ask for your credit card information or other sensitive personal details.

If you’re not sure if a contest is legitimate, do a quick Google search to see if other trustworthy outlets are talking about it. So start following those hashtags and keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to win! Who knows, you could be the lucky winner of a free shopping spree or at least some gift cards.

How Free Gift Cards Affect Your Benefits

Now, you might be wondering, “If I get all these free gift cards, will it affect my SNAP benefits?” The good news is, in most cases, the answer is no.

The USDA considers most gift cards to be like a one-time gift, not regular income. So they won’t count against your SNAP eligibility or benefit amount.

This even applies to most store-specific gift cards, like ones for Walmart or Target. In fact, the USDA clearly stated in their latest guidance that store-specific cards should not be counted as assets or income.

However, if you receive a gift card that can be used like cash anywhere (think Visa or Mastercard gift cards), the rules are different. These gift cards are counted as assets in the resource limit tests. In some cases, they may also be counted as income. It’s always best to check with your local SNAP office to be sure.

A good way to avoid any confusion is to stick with store-specific gift cards, like Amazon or Walmart gift cards, instead of general-purpose ones like Visa. It’s not as flexible but it should help you avoid any problems with your benefits.

But overall, don’t let any concerns about SNAP benefits stop you from taking advantage of these opportunities. Free gift cards can make a real difference in your budget, so go ahead and enjoy those rewards!
