If you’re enrolled at Centralia College in Washington, you may be eligible for up to $1,500 in emergency financial assistance.

The college’s Emergency Grant program helps students facing unexpected financial hardships that could interfere with their education.

Fall Quarter 2026 applications opened October 5, 2026, and grants are awarded while funding remains available.

Here’s what you need to know about eligibility, qualifying emergencies, and how to apply.

What Is the Centralia College Emergency Grant?

The Centralia College Emergency Grant provides short-term financial assistance to students experiencing unexpected emergencies that threaten their ability to continue or complete their education.

The program is designed for situations students couldn’t reasonably anticipate, rather than regular expenses or ongoing financial difficulties.

    Qualifying emergencies may include:

    • Unexpected job loss or a reduction in work hours.
    • Emergency medical expenses.
    • Car accidents or unexpected transportation emergencies.
    • Sudden changes in housing circumstances.
    • Property damage caused by natural disasters or other emergencies.

Each application is reviewed individually, and approval depends on the student’s circumstances and available funding.

Centralia College also offers other support services for students struggling with food, housing, or educational expenses.

How Much Money Could You Receive?

Eligible students may receive up to $1,500 through the Emergency Grant program.

However, Centralia College notes that most awards are smaller than the maximum amount.

The amount awarded depends on the student’s documented emergency and financial circumstances.

Funding is limited, so meeting the eligibility requirements doesn’t guarantee that you’ll receive assistance.

How Many Times Could You Receive a Grant?

Centralia generally limits students to two emergency grant awards during their time at the college.

However, the college may make exceptions for students pursuing a four-year bachelor’s degree or those experiencing rare or extraordinary circumstances.

    Exceptions are reviewed individually.

Centralia also gives priority to students who haven’t received an emergency grant within the previous year.

This doesn’t necessarily mean you must be a first-time applicant.

If you applied during a previous quarter, you’ll need to submit a new application to be considered for another award.

Who May Qualify for the Emergency Grant?

To be considered, students must meet both of these basic requirements:

    • Be currently enrolled in at least one class at Centralia College.
    • Be experiencing an unexpected financial emergency that threatens their ability to continue or complete their education.

The emergency must involve circumstances that go beyond normal, anticipated expenses.

For example, an unexpected medical bill or a sudden loss of employment may qualify, while a routine monthly expense generally wouldn’t.

Students don’t need to be receiving financial aid to apply.

However, emergency grant awards are coordinated with other financial assistance a student may already receive.

    What Expenses Aren’t Covered?

Centralia College identifies several situations that generally don’t qualify for emergency grant assistance.

    These include:

    • Tuition payments.
    • Delays in FAFSA processing.
    • Legal fees or fines.
    • Recurring financial difficulties or ongoing budget shortfalls.

The grant isn’t intended to replace regular financial aid or cover expenses students could reasonably anticipate.

If you’re unsure whether your emergency qualifies, contact the college’s Emergency Grant Outreach Specialist before applying.

    How Do You Apply?

Applications are submitted through Centralia College’s official Emergency Funding page.

Important: The college’s website contains some older application instructions from the previous academic year. To access the current application, use the “Apply for an Emergency Grant” button near the top of the page.

That button leads to the 2026-27 Emergency Grant Application.

    Step 1: Open the Application

Visit the Centralia College Emergency Funding page.

Select “Apply for an Emergency Grant” near the top of the page.

The application opens in Microsoft Forms.

    Step 2: Complete Your Information

The current application asks for personal information, including:

    • Full name.
    • ctcLink ID.
    • Phone number.
    • Email address.
    • Street address.

Complete the remaining questions about your circumstances and emergency assistance needs.

    Step 3: Submit Your Application

Follow the instructions in the online form to submit your request.

Centralia College says applicants receive a confirmation email with initial resources after submitting.

Step 4: Connect With the Emergency Grant Outreach Specialist

Submitting the online form alone doesn’t complete the application process.

Centralia requires students to connect with the Emergency Grant Outreach Specialist to discuss their circumstances and complete any remaining requirements.

You may need to provide supporting documents, depending on your emergency.

These could include bills, notices, repair estimates, or other records that help explain the unexpected expense.

    Step 5: Wait for Review

Centralia’s emergency grant committee meets twice a week to review applications.

Awards are made on a rolling basis while funds remain available.

There is no guarantee of approval or a specific payment date.

    When Can You Apply?

Centralia College has published the following application opening dates for the 2026–27 academic year:

    QuarterApplication Opening Date
    Fall 2026October 5, 2026
    Winter 2027January 19, 2027
    Spring 2027April 19, 2027

The Fall 2026 application window has already opened.

However, the college awards emergency grants only while funding remains available. The published opening date doesn’t guarantee that money will still be available when you apply.

Centralia hasn’t published a specific Fall 2026 closing date on its current emergency funding page.

If you’re facing a qualifying emergency, consider applying promptly rather than waiting until later in the quarter.

You can check the official Emergency Funding page for current instructions and availability.

What About the $100 Cafeteria Credits?

Centralia College also offers a separate food assistance option for students experiencing food insecurity.

Eligible students may receive $100 in cafeteria credits per quarter, depending on available funding.

These credits are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

However, Centralia’s website currently states that Fall Quarter cafeteria credit applications are closed.

This is separate from the Emergency Grant program, so the cafeteria credit closure doesn’t necessarily mean emergency grant applications are closed.
