Charity Motors is a nonprofit organization that offers vehicles at a steep discount (half off!) for low income people who are able to attend one of their auction events. This is a great opportunity to save money on your next used car.
What is Charity Motors?
Charity Motors is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that makes it easy to donate unwanted vehicles while supporting charitable causes across the United States. Donors can designate the nonprofit they want to benefit, and the proceeds from each donated vehicle help fund that organization.
In addition, Charity Motors sells many donated vehicles at reduced prices to qualifying low-income individuals and families, helping provide reliable transportation that can improve access to work, education, and essential services.
Who is Eligible?
In order to be eligible, you must:
- At least 18 years old
- Ability to attend one of their auctions
- Low income (according to one of the subcategories below)
- Government Assistance (WIC, Medicaid, etc.)
- Disabled & receiving SSDI
- Full-time student
- Making less than $38,685 for a family of five
If you get approved for their program, you’ll receive a buyer number that is valid for one year. During that time, you can attend their auctions and buy a vehicle at the 50% off price.
How Do I Apply?
The application instructions are not publicly available. You will need to contact the Charity Motors team and they will help you through the process.
The Charity Motors office is located in Detroit, Michigan. Their currently listed auctions occur on Saturdays in either Laural, Maryland, or San Diego, California.
