Double Your Benefits with Double Up Food Bucks Michigan

Double Up Food Bucks Michigan allows low income shoppers in the state of Michigan to get up to $10 in free produce every day when they shop with their SNAP EBT benefits! In order to use these benefits, you need to shop with your food benefits at a participating retailer.

What is Double Up Food Bucks Michigan?

This is the Michigan branch of the nationwide Double Up Food Bucks movement, which is dedicated to helping low income households purchase more healthy food.

The program helps you double your benefits when you purchase eligible products from eligible vendors.

Who is eligible?

Anyone who receives SNAP benefits can double their food benefits through Double Up Food Bucks Michigan. You don’t even have to be a resident of Michigan state! You just have to shop at a participating store in the area.

There are no application processes or steps that you need to follow. Just go to a participating store and make your purchases!

How does Double Up Food Bucks Michigan work?

The process varies depending on where you choose to shop.

At Farmers’ Markets, you’ll need to go to the Welcome Booth to swipe your EBT card. They’ll give you tokens in exchange. You’ll receive one set of tokens for the amount that you’ve paid, and another set of Double Up tokens that you didn’t have to pay for. Those Double Up tokens can only be used to purchase eligible fresh fruits and vegetables from local Michigan farmers.

At the grocery store, you’ll receive Double Up points that can be used to purchase any fresh fruits and vegetables. They don’t have to be locally grown when you shop at a traditional grocery store.

How much can I get from DUFB?

In Michigan, the daily limit is $10 for this program.

That means you can spend up to $10 and receive up to $10 in free Double Up tokens. If you spend less than $10, you’ll receive an amount of double tokens that is equal to whatever you spent. If you spend more than $10, you’ll still only get $10 in free tokens.

The free tokens you receive from Farmers Markets will never expire. You can save them and use them at a later date without any problems.

However, if you choose to use your Double Up benefits at a grocery store, the earnings will usually expire after 90 days. You’ll want to make sure you keep track of those benefits and use them on time! Using the new Double Up app can help you track your balance and expiration dates.

The program works differently in Flint.

In Flint, the program works a bit differently. You have to register to use Double Up in Flint. You can register at a participating location or with the Double Up app.

Once you register, you will be able to follow slightly different rules than people who use Double Up Food Bucks in the rest of Michigan.

For example, Flint shoppers can purchase any fruits and vegetables from the Farmers Market. They are not restricted to Michigan-grown produce.

Flint shoppers can also earn Double Up Food Bucks when they purchase milk and eligible fresh, frozen, dried or canned fruits and vegetables. Those special rules only apply to people who live in Flint and shop at Flint-area locations.

What locations participate in DUFB Michigan?

There are more than 250 grocery stores and farmers markets statewide that will allow you to double your food benefits.
