If you’re a family who is struggling and wishing for a miracle this holiday and live in the Dorchester County, SC area, take some time to look below at all the resources that can help you this holiday season.

Toy Assistance:

The Salvations Army provides Christmas gifts and Seasonal Assistance to children that come from low-income families through their Angel Tree and Adopt a Family programs. Due to the demand for help this holiday season, there are income guidelines in place to determine your child’s eligibility for the program. They encourage you to call them if you wish to register, so they can go over the process with you. 

Toys for Tots provides free gifts for children in Dorchester County and other surrounding counties. For your child to be eligible for this gift program, you must meet the income guidelines. During the 2021 Christmas season, Toys for Tots distributed 95,775 toys to 15,860 children in the Dorchester County area. 

Outreach Ministries of the Episcopal Church gathers Christmas toys for the Dorchester Children’s Center. This is a Christmas’s crisis center that provides evidence based care for children who suffered child abuse to try to reduce trauma. For any child who finds themselves unfortunately placed in this treatment center around the Christmas holiday will at least have a unique toy to brighten up their holiday this year.

Catholic Charities serve Dorchester County low income families. During the holidays, they provide Christmas gifts and toys to children. 

Food Assistance:

The Salvation Army offers meals to those who are in need of proper nutrition. In fact, over the holiday season, they will be providing a Thanksgiving and Christmas meal for low-income families and the homeless.

The Episcopal Church offers a Thanksgiving and Christmas basket project for families in need of a holiday meal. Volunteers from the church bag all of the holiday meals and deliver them to families within the Dorchester County, SC area. They feed up to 300 families with this program. 

Catholic Charities serve Dorchester County, among others. They usually help low income families with basic needs, like shelter and food. Lowcountry Food Bank offers holiday food assistance to struggling families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays in Dorchester and other surrounding counties. 

Star Gospel Mission offers seasonal assistance to Dorchester County residents who already have assistance with utility bills or medical expenses. 

Horry County

Lancaster County

Toy Assistance:

Christian Services invites low-income families who cannot afford to buy presents for their children on the holidays to take part in their Angel Tree program. This is the only Angel Tree program location in Lancaster County and has been serving families in need for over 35 years. The Angel Tree program provides families with clothing, toys, and other gifts through the generosity of community members and organizations. Salvation Army offers the Angel Tree program for any family struggling to get Christmas gifts for their children during the holidays. This program connects families with sponsors who buy the items the family wants and delivers them just before Christmas. Toys For Tots invites all low-income or working poor families to take part in their services. They provide toys for children by collecting donations from community members and organizations using donation boxes and toy drives. 

The 2022 Toys for Tots Campaign started on October 1st and will run until December 23rd. Registration for the program can be done online from October 1st until the end of day December 12th. If you have already requested a toy online, make sure to check your email for consistent updates. I’m a single mother of a smart beautiful little girl named Carolina she is 6 years old and was looking to get help for Christmas I live In Blacksburg sc that’s in Cherokee county and apparently I have missed the angle tree they’re were so many differ dates and I guess I was looking at the wrong year and was wonder what I could do if there was anywhere else like the angle tree to help give my baby girl a small Christmas?
