Salvation Army has several assistance programs for families in need during the holidays and throughout the year. They have the Angel Tree program, connecting families in need with sponsors who buy Christmas presents from the family’s wish list and delivers them just before Christmas. They also offer the food pantry for free bags of groceries, holiday dinner boxes filled with a traditional holiday dinner, and a soup kitchen serving hot meals daily and special holiday meals on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. To qualify for their programs, applicants must have a social security card for everyone living in the home, have a valid form of identification, have proof of income and expenses, and have at least on child aged newborn to 12 years old living in their home full-time.

St. Mary’s By The Sea Episcopal Church provides Christmas gifts for children whose families are receiving help from local Mental Health Services. They also provides food, clothing and referrals for those in need.

Toys For Tots receives new, unopened toys from community members, organizations, and charities to provide children of low-income families with presents during the holiday season. They bring these toys to the children just before holidays, allowing every child to see a gift under the tree. Parents must register their children for the program by clicking on the request toys link on their website and filling out the form. Applicants must have a social security card or birth certificate for everyone living in the home, proof of income and household expenses, a valid form of identification, and at least one child aged infant to 12 years old living in the home permanently.

Two Hands offers families in need living in Monterey County with a way to communicate their needs to members of the community who want to help them. Families can post their Christmas wish lists, financial needs, household items, and more and community members will provide the families with the items at their earliest convenience. Anyone can post their needs as often as they need to on the platform and there are no documentation or eligibility requirements. Food Bank Of Monterey County offers emergency food services on a monthly basis at 26 different locations in Monterey County. They offer families free bags of groceries containing tuna, fruits, vegetables, bread, rice, beans, and other staple foods once every thirty days. They also offer several other food programs such as the Family Market Program, Kids Nutrition on the Weekends, and Breast Cancer Patient Food Assistance.

Shoreline Church Food Pantry and Clothing Closet offers a food pantry for residents of Monterey County who need help making ends meet. This ministry provides food and clothes to those in need.

St. Vincent De Paul Society Food Pantry Provides emergency assistance such as clothing, food, and shelter on an individual basis.

Thomas Carman Food Pantry welcomes any family in need of food to their food pantry in Marina. The pantry also purchases 100 turkeys to distribute to families in need during Thanksgiving.
