Instead, they’re able to offer help by offering information on attorneys in the state who provide their services for free. They have a listing of legal aid and pro bono attorneys that can help you have an easier time finding an attorney in your area.
Get civil rights help through the ACLU.
You should know your legal rights and civil rights before you go into a civil case. The ACLU can help you learn more about your rights and what that means for your case. While they generally do not provide representation to people who are in need, you can find many free resources to help you learn more about your rights!

I’m looking to help my cousin with a situation she’s dealing with. She hit a parked car in Iowa but she lives in Minnesota. Police were called but damage was so minimal the officer said he couldn’t do anything and no citation was given to my cousin. The drivers husband has since told my cousin she needs to pay him $1,000 for damages. My cousin told him she only get social security and ssi. He then had his lawyer tell her she could make 200 payments per month til she paid it off. I think he’s just bullying her and I think they should take this to court. What legal advice would you give?
