PANS and PANDAS treatment can involve medications, lab work, specialist visits, supplements, and other expenses that aren’t always fully covered by insurance. For families struggling with those costs, one nationwide grant is currently accepting applications through December 3, 2026.
The Look. Foundation’s Healing Grant provides up to $3,000 to eligible children and young adults with PANS or PANDAS. Here’s who qualifies, what the money can cover, and what you’ll need before applying.
What Is the Look. Healing Grant?
The Look. Healing Grant is a medical treatment grant from the Look. Foundation, a nonprofit that supports families affected by PANS and PANDAS.
PANS stands for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome, while PANDAS stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections.
Families dealing with these conditions may face expenses for medications, supplements, laboratory testing, specialist appointments, and other forms of treatment.
The Look. Healing Grant provides money to eligible families to help pay approved PANS/PANDAS treatment expenses.
Unlike a reimbursement-only program, you don’t necessarily have to pay every eligible expense before receiving the grant. However, recipients are required to keep documentation and verify how grant funds were used.
Who Qualifies for the Look. Healing Grant?
To qualify, the person receiving the grant must:
- Be 28 years old or younger
- Have a documented diagnosis of PANS or PANDAS
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be under the care of a U.S.-based medical provider who can confirm the diagnosis
The Foundation accepts documentation from an MD, ND, DO, PA-C, or NP, provided the practitioner has prescribing rights in their state.
Parents and guardians can apply on behalf of an eligible child or young adult.
There’s also an important restriction for previous recipients: if you’ve already received a Look. Healing Grant, you cannot apply for another one.
How Much Can You Get?
The maximum assistance is $3,000, but it isn’t automatically awarded all at once.
Here’s how it works:
Initial funding
Approved recipients can receive an initial grant of up to $1,500.
Additional funding
After using the initial funds, recipients must verify how the money was spent and complete the Foundation’s required Grant Feedback Form.
They may then request additional funding.
If additional assistance is approved, total funding through the Look. Healing Grant can reach up to $3,000.
That means you shouldn’t assume approval for the first $1,500 automatically guarantees another $1,500.
What Can the Grant Pay For?
Look. Foundation allows grant funds to be used for approved PANS/PANDAS treatment expenses, including:
- Medications
- Supplements
- Doctor and specialist visits
- Laboratory testing
- Functional medicine providers
- Naturopaths
- Acupuncturists
- Chiropractors
- Other approved holistic practitioners involved in treatment
Because eligibility is tied specifically to PANS/PANDAS care, the funds can’t simply be used for any household or medical expense.
What Doesn’t the Grant Cover?
The Foundation specifically excludes several expenses.
Grant funds cannot be used for:
- Treatment for someone other than the approved recipient
- Past medical debt
- Food
- Rent
- Mortgage payments
- Travel expenses
- School tuition
- School services
- School advocacy expenses
If you’re primarily looking for help with housing, food, transportation, or old medical debt, this particular grant won’t be the right fit.
What Documents Do I Need?
One of the most important pieces of your application is a letter from the applicant’s medical provider.
The provider letter must:
- Be addressed to Look. Foundation
- Appear on the provider’s official letterhead
- Be signed by the provider
- Include the applicant’s name
- Include the applicant’s date of birth
- Confirm the PANS or PANDAS diagnosis
- Provide a brief case history
Don’t leave this letter until the last minute.
Look. Foundation says an application isn’t eligible for consideration by its Board of Directors until the required medical provider letter has been received.
Depending on the application, you may also be asked for additional information or supporting documentation.
What If I Have More Than One Child With PANS or PANDAS?
You can use one family account, but each child needs their own application.
You’ll also need a separate medical provider letter for each child.
That distinction is important because the Foundation evaluates each potential grant recipient individually.
How Do I Apply?
Start through the Look. Foundation’s application and eligibility page.
The application is completed through the Foundation’s online system.
Before starting:
- Review the current eligibility requirements.
- Gather the applicant’s personal and medical information.
- Ask the treating provider for the required signed letter.
- Complete the online application.
- Submit all required supporting documentation.
- Watch your email and application account for updates or requests for additional information.
If you’re approved, you’ll also need to agree to the Foundation’s requirements for using and documenting the grant funds.
What If I Was Waitlisted Before?
Being waitlisted is different from having already received a grant.
Look. Foundation says waitlisted applicants can request reconsideration for future Board meetings and can submit updated financial or medical information.
A waitlisted application can remain active for up to one year.
If you’re in this situation, contact the Foundation rather than assuming you need to submit an entirely new application.
Remember, however, that someone who has already received a Look. Healing Grant isn’t eligible to receive another one.
When Is the Deadline?
The current application window opened:
September 3, 2026
Applications must be submitted by:
December 3, 2026
Look. Foundation lists:
February 3, 2027
as the notification date for this application cycle.
The program isn’t described as first-come, first-served, so focus on submitting a complete application with the required medical documentation before the deadline.
What If My Child Was Diagnosed Outside the United States?
The important eligibility requirement is the applicant’s current medical care.
Applicants must currently be under the care of a U.S.-based MD, ND, DO, PA-C, or NP with prescribing rights in their state who can provide the required documentation.
If your child’s original diagnosis was made elsewhere, review the current eligibility requirements carefully and make sure the U.S.-based treating provider can supply the documentation the Foundation requires.

The Look. Healing Grant may provide up to $3,000 toward treatment expenses for eligible children and young adults with PANS or PANDAS.
Applicants must be 28 or younger, demonstrate financial need, have a documented PANS/PANDAS diagnosis, and be under the care of an eligible U.S.-based medical provider.
Initial grants can be worth up to $1,500. After documenting how those funds were used and completing the required feedback form, recipients may request additional assistance that could bring total funding to $3,000.
The current application period runs from September 3 through December 3, 2026, with applicant notifications scheduled for February 3, 2027.
