You might also be able to get help with things like your heating system and even your flooring and insulation.
The Habitat for Humanity generally helps people who need to get into a house, but they might be able to help make your house safer if your repairs are related to safety. The program has a waitlist almost always and you’ll be required to put sweat equity into helping with the repairs. If you know how to fix your home yourself or you want to make it better, you might be able to find gently used materials far below retail price at the Habitat for Humanity ReStores.
Try these loans to help repair your home.
MD Department of Housing might be able to help with a loan to help make your property safer. The loans could help homeowners with major repairs to bring their property up to the building codes and standards of their area. You will need to qualify for the loan.
The USDA has a loan in addition to their grant program. You could get up to $20,000 toward your home repairs. While you do have to pay this loan back, it comes with a very low-interest rate and a long-term to pay the money back with.
If you’re entitled to VA benefits and you need Maryland home improvement, you might be able to get a loan that is backed by the VA. These loans work for people to help them save money and can make it easier for you to get approved. The loans also sometimes come with longer terms and a lower interest rate to pay it back with.
Property tax relief is available in Maryland!
If you make under $60,000 per year and you meet other requirements, you could be entitled to the homeowner property tax credit. This credit can be used in combination with other programs that Maryland has available for homeowners.

The Maryland HOPE foreclosure relief option could make it easier for you to get foreclosure relief. Even if you are close to foreclosure, you might be able to get help to make sure you can keep your home. In addition to the HOPE hotline, you can also get assistance through HOPE to find resources to help you save your home. HOPE even has programs available that might make it easier for you to handle homeownership. They provide counseling and they provide resources that could help you get counseling.
Are you a veteran or entitled to veteran benefits? If so, you could get special foreclosure relief options. Veterans have different things they can qualify for that might make it easier for them to keep their home. You will need to apply for this help.
The Maryland Legal Assistance program might be able to provide you with even more help if you’re facing foreclosure. You could get a low-cost or free attorney to help you save your home. This could also help you understand the process of foreclosure and what you can do to prevent it from happening again once you get yourself out of it the first time!
Your county might be able to help with Maryland home improvement!
Some counties could provide you with grants and loans to help with Maryland home improvement. These counties have a lot to offer for residents so you can get help making your home safer and more livable.
Anne Arundel County
Do you live in Annapolis and need Maryland home improvement help? We found ways you might be able to get it! The Annapolis Housing Rehabilitation Grant might be able to help you with home repair costs. The grant could help families with up to $30,000 toward home rehab throughout their lifetime. If you follow all the rules of the grant, you will not have to pay the money back.
Are you somewhere else in Anne Arundel County? If yes, you might be able to get help with property rehab and property repair. The county has programs that could assist you with accessibility modifications and might make it easier for you to save money while fixing your home. In addition to the home repair options they offer, they also have a foreclosure prevention program that could help you save your home!
If you’re in the city of Baltimore, you could qualify for a variety of their programs. They offer emergency roof repair, a home preservation grant and a lead hazard reduction program. You could also qualify for the deferred loan program that you will not have to pay off until you sell your home. Baltimore also has energy savings loans you could use to make your home more energy efficient. You can use these programs in addition to the Maryland Housing Rehabilitation program.
Residents of Baltimore County outside of the city might be able to get help through the rehabilitation program. You could get access to a community development block grant or even a deferred loan program. The grant could help you make necessary repairs to improve your home while the loan does not usually have to be paid off until you sell the house.
If you’re in Frederick, you might have options to make your home safer and more livable. You might be able to get access to the CDBG that could help you save money on your home repairs. This program includes funds from a grant that does not have to be paid back.
The Harford county Home Rehabilitation Loan might be able to help you with Maryland home improvement. While the terms of the loan can vary from family to family, they are generally better than the terms of traditional loans. You could get a lower interest rate and more time to pay back the loan than you would with a traditional home repair loan. Harford County allows you to use the funds from the loan to rehabilitate your home by upgrading things like windows, doors, siding, electrical work, plumbing and more.
Do you need Maryland home improvement options in Howard County? The community development block grant could help you get the money you need to make upgrades to your home. There are a variety of upgrades you can do using the grant and you will not have to pay the grant back as long as you stick to the terms of the contract.
Even though the home rehabilitation loan in Montgomery County might not always be available, it could help you save money so you can get help making your home better. There are options you could use that could save you money and could even help you upgrade your home. If you need help with safety or security repairs, repairs to make your home more accessible or general home repairs, you might be able to get help through the home rehab loan!
Prince George’s County
Are you a senior in Bowie? If so, you might be able to get help through the Senior Housing Rehabilitation Program. This is a grant you could use to help you make your home more accessible. You could also use the grant to make repairs to your home that might make it safer.
The Housing Rehabilitation Assistance program in Prince George’s County might make it easier for you to upgrade your home. You could get either a loan or a grant to help you make necessary upgrades. You don’t have to pay the grant back. While you do have to pay the loan back, it comes with terms that are often less expensive than loan terms from traditional banks.
If you’re in Hagerstown and have Maryland home improvement projects, you might be able to get help with the CDBG program! The community development block grant might make it easier for you to upgrade your home to make it look nicer and help improve the community. It might also make it easier for you to make your home safer!
