Tennessee Housing Development Agency Rent Relief
Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) has a COVID-19 Rent Relief program funded by the US Department of Treasury. The purpose of this program is to assist renters who have faced financial hardship due to the pandemic.
What does THDA’s COVID-19 Rent Relief cover?
Tennessee’s COVID-19 Rent Relief program may help to cover up to 15 months of current and past due rent payments incurred after March 13, 2020 as a result of the pandemic. It may cover up to 3 months of future rent as well.
For those who are eligible, the program can also cover certain utility payments, late fees, and court or attorney fees from an eviction for those who are eligible.
Who is eligible for Tennessee’s COVID-19 Rent Relief?
In order to be eligible for THDA’s COVID-19 Rent Relief program, you must:
- Be a renter living in Tennessee.
- Have experienced economic hardship or a loss of income during the pandemic.
- Meet certain income requirements.
Some of Tennessee’s counties have received their own funding from the US Department of Treasury, including Davidson, Knox, Shelby, and Rutherford. Residents of these counties may not be eligible for THDA’s COVID-19 Rent Relief and will have to apply for their local program instead.
