The Wyandotte Nation Senior Energy Program can help with electric, natural gas, or propane costs. The money isn’t paid directly to you. Instead, Wyandotte Nation sends the payment to your utility provider and the amount is credited to your account.
The current program year ends September 30, 2026, so there’s not much time left to apply.
What Is the Wyandotte Nation Senior Energy Program?
The Senior Energy Program is offered through Wyandotte Nation Family Services to help older tribal citizens with home energy expenses.
Eligible citizens can receive up to $350 toward:
- Electric
- Natural gas
- Propane
This is a tribal citizen benefit rather than a general public utility assistance program. You must be an enrolled Wyandotte Nation citizen to qualify.
However, you don’t have to live in Oklahoma. The program is available nationwide, so eligible Wyandotte Nation citizens can apply regardless of the state where they live.
Who Qualifies?
The primary eligibility requirements are straightforward. You must:
- Be an enrolled Wyandotte Nation citizen
- Be 55 years of age or older
You’ll need your Wyandotte Nation tribal roll number when completing the application.
The program’s current materials don’t list a state residency restriction, which is why eligible tribal citizens can participate nationwide.
How Much Can You Get?
The Senior Energy Program provides up to $350.
The money goes directly to the utility provider rather than being sent to you as cash.
You can request assistance for eligible electric, natural gas, or propane expenses, and the application allows you to divide the benefit among utilities.
There are a couple of details on the application that are easy to miss:
- If you don’t indicate a specific dollar amount for a utility, the full $350 may be applied to that utility.
- The amount you request doesn’t have to equal the exact balance on your bill. The payment is applied as a credit to the utility account.
The total assistance available through the program is still limited to $350.
What You’ll Need to Apply
Before applying, gather:
- Your Wyandotte Nation tribal roll number
- A complete copy of your most current utility bill, including the front and back
The utility documentation should show the:
- Energy company name
- Energy company address
- Account number
- Dates of service
Make sure you send the complete bill rather than only a payment stub.
The program also specifically instructs applicants not to send personal checks with their applications.
It’s important to double-check everything before submitting. Incomplete applications will be returned, which could become a problem if you’re applying close to the September 30 deadline.
How Long Does It Take?
Don’t stop paying your regular utility bill after you apply.
Wyandotte Nation says applicants should allow at least 30 days for processing. Continue making your normal payments while you wait for the Senior Energy Program credit to appear on your account.
This assistance shouldn’t be treated as an immediate replacement for a payment that’s due before the program can process your application.

When Is the Deadline?
The current Senior Energy Program year runs from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.
Your application must be received in the office or postmarked by September 30, 2026.
Because incomplete applications are returned and processing takes time, don’t wait until the last minute to gather your documents.
What If You Don’t Qualify?
The Senior Energy Program is specifically for eligible Wyandotte Nation citizens age 55 and older, but there are other programs that may help with heating and cooling expenses.
