The Beartooth Humane Alliance works to help the communities of Carbon County and Stillwater County by helping companion pets in need and promoting responsible pet ownership through education. The center focuses on finding solutions to the animal overpopulation as an animal welfare resource center for the community. 

This location offers a two options for spay and neuter services and programs such as:

1. Low Cost Spay and Neuter Vouchers – A low cost spay or neuter option for low income residents. Pet owners whose annual gross household income is at or below the following will qualify

Individual – $20,000

Couple – $25,000

Household of 3 – $30,000

Household of 4 – $35,000

Vouchers are valid for one routine spay or neuter surgical procedure and applications can be found online or by calling the center directly. 

Upon arrival to the clinic, owners will return the application along with the copayment. Vouchers are honored at select veterinary locations, including: 

Grizzly Peak Animal Hospital, Red Lodge Veterinary Clinic, Shiloh Veterinary Hospital, Absarokee Animal Hospital, and Dr. Diana Scollard’s practice.

2. Operation Nip and Tuck – This is available for barn cats and other unsupervised feral cats only in Carbon and Stillwater counties. This is a FREE spay and neuter program that is offered year round at several different locations every month. 

Bitter Root Humane Association (Hamilton, MT)

The Bitter Root Humane Association (BRHA) is made up of a group of local animal lovers, advocates, owners, and volunteers. The association encourages spay and neuter services in an attempt to reduce the overpopulation of unwanted pets as well as promoting longer and healthy lives for all pets. 

The community has access to Spay and Neuter Services through grants and special programs, the association may be able to assist with procedure costs with participating veterinarians. Contact BRHA directly to receive current information.

Rimrock Humane Society (Roundup, MT)

The Rimrock Humane Society (RHS) is a local, private, non profit organization supported by community donations as a full service veterinary care center. RHS offers a Community Spay and Neuter Program, known as CSNIP, based on the support of donors and grants from various funds. 

This low cost spay and neuter option is available to the residents of Musselshell county. Interested pet owners will need to make a monetary donation based on their ability and RHS will pay the remainder of the bill due to a participating veterinarian.

  3. If the pet has fleas, it will be required that they receive a flea treatment to minimize exposure.

  2. Cat spay, no less than 4 lbs – $105
  3. Dog neuter – $105
  4. Dog spay, 4 to 20 lbs – $120
  5. Dog spay, 20 to 60 lbs – $140
  6. Dog spay, over 60 lbs – $140, plus $1 for every pound over 60

Prices include surgery only, an e-collar and 4 days of pain medication.
