Cars 4 Heroes provides free donated vehicles for veterans, active duty military members, first responders and sometimes civilians. This organization operates entirely on donations. Today, we’re going to talk about how you can apply for this life-changing opportunity.
What is Cars 4 Heroes?
Cars 4 Heroes is a nonprofit organization that has been giving away free vehicles since 1996. Their initial focus was on people who were out of work and struggling. They originally gave away free vehicles at Christmas in Kansas City, which is why the founder was called “Car Santa.” Now, they have expanded their operation nationwide.
Who is Eligible?
In order to be eligible, you generally need to be either a:
- Veteran (with a DD214)
- Active-Duty Military Member (with a military ID)
- First Responder
- A civilian who cannot get a vehicle on their own
It appears based on the wording of their website overall that priority is given to disabled veterans.
How Do I Apply?
Applying is easy and entirely online. Just visit the Apply for a Car page. You will need to select whether you want to use the Veteran & Military application or the First Responder & Civilian application. If you choose Veteran & Military, be prepared with your forms, service and deployment dates, and more.
