60 Ways to Find Free Colorado Rent Relief

60 Ways to Find Free Colorado Rent Relief

There are so many ways to get free Colorado rent relief if you know where to look. We’ve already done the research for you and compiled it all right here in one easy-to-use guide.

Statewide Colorado Rent Relief

Some rental assistance programs serve the entire state of Colorado. But be sure to keep reading for a list of local rent relief programs, too!

Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Colorado’s federally funded Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is still accepting applications from residents who are experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic. However, the program will soon be phased out by the Department of Local Affairs and replaced with a long-term rental assistance program, so apply as soon as possible.

What does Colorado’s ERAP cover?

Colorado’s ERAP may cover rent payments missed as far back as April 2020, plus your current rent and future rent of up to two months, for a maximum of 18 months. Those who have already received assistance may be able to get another 3 months of rental assistance. Rental assistance is subject to available funding as the program nears completion.

Who is eligible for Colorado’s ERAP?

In order to be eligible for Colorado’s ERAP, you must:

  • Be a resident of one of the counties covered by the program.
  • Have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Meet certain income requirements.

How do I apply?

Visit Colorado’s Department of Local Affairs website to apply online. You’ll need to have the following available:

  • Your landlord’s contact information.
  • A government-issued ID.
  • Lease or other proof of residence.
  • A rent statement or ledger to show how much you owe.
  • Any income documentation for adult members of the household.

Some counties have their own ERAP funds available. You’ll need to fill out a separate application if you’re a resident of:
