FREE School Supplies in Newark, Ohio!

Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church provides a free backpack and school supplies giveaway in late summer every year. However, you must call (740) 552-4505 and register to receive help. This agency also provides free clothing during their free Fourth Sunday community meals. They also provide Christmas dinner giveaways in December.

First Church United Methodist distributes school supplies and book bags at a free community dinner in August! I saw a mention of it on their homepage and I’ve contacted the Church to find out whether or not this is an annual event. I’ll update this article when I hear back.

Licking County Veterans Service Commission provides $20 Staples gift cards to the children of low-income, honorably discharged veterans who have resided in Licking County for at least 90 days.  Applications are accepted as early as August 1st and must include the veteran’s DD214, student’s birth certificates with the veteran’s name on it and proof of residency for the last 90 days. This agency may also assist with holiday meals, support groups, utility bill payments, and other emergency financial assistance.

Look Up provides free school supplies and free hair cuts at their  annual Back to School Event.

Salvation Army provides free back to school supplies, food assistance, emergency shelter, utility and rent assistance and so much more to local families who need them.

Catholic Social Services offers a clothing closet for the low income Hispanic community. Clients are seen by appointment only, so you’ll need to call (614) 341-2282 to schedule an appointment to receive clothing.

Food Pantry Network of Licking County provides clothing and food to low income Licking County families. You’ll need to provide documentation of each family member (birth certificates, custody papers, driver’s licenses, state IDs, etc) and proof of residency. This organization has several locations throughout the county.

Goodwill Industries provides FREE clothing vouchers for children every six months. Adults can receive a voucher once per year. These vouchers are distributed to local agencies who provide them to the public. To obtain a voucher, you must contact the Licking County Coalition for Housing, Ohio Means Jobs, Main Place or Job & Family Services.

Hanover Presbyterian Church provides free clothing for the entire family without any questions asked. They may also have diapers and children’s books available. Any Licking County resident can receive clothing here.

Jacksontown United Methodist Church provides free clothing and food to individuals and families in need throughout Licking County. Simply walk in on Wednesdays between 10am and 12pm or 6pm to 8pm for service!

Last Call Outreach Ministries may provide clothing, cleaning supplies, toiletries and laundry soap to anyone in need when donations are available. They also coordinate a food pantry, pet food pantry and fall/winter heating cost assistance program.

Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio provides a clothing pantry with gently used secondhand clothing for anyone in need, regardless of Native American heritage. You can visit the clothes pantry on weekdays between 10am and 2pm.

Neal Avenue United Methodist Church provides a clothing closet that is open to anyone in need. If you need transportation, you may be able to get help by calling 344-3021. Any Licking County resident can receive help here on the last Tuesday of each month between 5pm and 6pm.

Newark Seventh-Day Adventist Community Church provides gently used items through a thrift shop or a clothing pantry for those in need. Families can receive free clothing once per month on Wednesdays between 9am and 11:30am. They can also assist with food!

Northside Church of Christ provides free clothing to anyone in need between 10am and 2pm on Saturdays. The clothing is provided through community and Church donations.

Second Baptist Church of Newark provides free clothing for individuals and families in need. Simply walk in during the second or fourth Saturday of the month between 12pm and 2pm for service!

Second Church of Christ provides free clothing and community meals for Licking residents. The clothing is available on certain days and hours, so please contact the Church for more information.
