Your Arapahoe Library card is quite the resource. Not only does it grant you access to the vast collections of material available at all 8 Denver area locations, but your Arapahoe Library membership also includes a variety of other benefits you might not know about.
An Arapahoe Library membership isn’t just for Arapahoe County residents; any Colorado resident with a photo ID and proof of address is eligible!

Check Out Colorado!

The Arapahoe Library and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife department have come together to create a program known as Check Out Colorado. The program allows you to borrow a backpack and provides you with free passes to any of Colorado’s 42 state parks. The backpack comes with a pair of binoculars, a Colorado parks guide, and activity ideas.

Create in the Arapahoe Library’s amazing makerspaces!

The Studio is an amazing resource for Arapahoe Library members available at some locations. The Studio is soundproof room that offers a green screen and all of the recording software you need to record and edit your own videos.

The Makerspace is a unique offering from the Arapahoe Library that is sure to satisfy every crafter’s need. This space is designed for building and tinkering with any craft you might imagine, and is equipped with every tool from sewing machines to laser cutters. The Makerspace is open to library card holders, is free of charge, and doesn’t require an appointment.

The Digitization Space is another free service that is unlocked with your library card. The Digitization Space has a number of older media players such as VHS and record players that are connected to a PC. This space allows you digitize those old recordings and scan copies of photographs for free. Some types of media require an appointment.

Your Arapahoe Library card provides benefits that reach beyond the library doors. Through Arapahoe Library’s Exploration Pass members have access to discounted memberships to a number of Denver area institutions. The Exploration Pass must be booked 30 days ahead of time, covers 2-4 visitors, and can only be used twice within 30 days.

The Butterfly Pavilion is an exciting wildlife experience that includes a rainforest with over 1,600 butterflies, an underwater exhibit featuring many sea creatures, and the Pavilion’s famous Tarantula Rosie. General admission is typically $12 but Arapahoe Library members get in free.

The Clyfford Still Museum pays homage to the mysterious artist Clyfford Still, whose work has only recently been made available to the public. The museum includes over 3,000 works of art created by Still. Many of them have only recently become available to the public. General admission tickets are normally $10 but Arapahoe Library members visit for free.

The Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls, and Toys offers a wide variety of historic toys, dolls, and miniatures. The museum has temporary exhibits as well as permanent attractions such as two fully furnished miniature houses. Admission is $6 for the general public Arapahoe Library members visit for free.

The Molly Brown House Museum chronicles the life of Margaret “Molly” Brown, an activist and philanthropist who focused her energy on education. The Molly Brown House is one of the most visited historic sites in Colorado. Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for children, but your library card allows you four passes for free.

Morrison Natural History Museum is Denver’s oldest paleontology museum. You can experience fossils that span millions of years worth of history and watch paleontology research in progress. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children but your Arapahoe Library membership will get you in for free.

One of America’s finest quilt museums, the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum has a large selection of antique and contemporary quilts and bedcovers. The price of admission for adults is $8 and for children is $4, but an Arapahoe Library membership gives you access to four passes free of charge.

The Arapahoe Library has expanded far beyond hard copies of books. Your library card provides you with access to a tremendous amount of digital content including e-books, music, movies and audio recordings through several digital streaming services.

Abdo Digital offers children the opportunity the read through many classic comic books. The comics are separated into Beginner and Elementary levels and include famous titles such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, and The Fantastic Four.

Business E-books by Gale is a helpful option if you’re an entrepreneur seeking help with running your business. This streaming service provides Arapahoe Library members with access to books and sample business plans in areas such as accounting, management, and marketing.

Cloud Library is ideal for booklovers of all stripes. This streaming service offers Arapahoe Library members access to a large selection of contemporary e-Books and audio books. Cloud Library also comes with a helpful tutorial.

Hoopla offers hundreds of thousands titles available to be streamed including books, movies and TV shows. This includes blockbuster movies, niche films, and everything in-between. Hoopla can be viewed on a web browser or through their proprietary app.

InstantFlix provides Arapahoe Library members with access to over 7,000 classic TV shows, short films, documentaries. The streaming service also offers a wide range of films offered at Film Festivals such as Sundance, Cannes, and Tribeca.

OverDrive is a digital streaming service with a massive library of e-books, digital audiobooks, comics, movies and TV shows. It can be access online or with their mobile app called Libby. Libby is currently available for Apple, Android and Windows devices. With OverDrive you can check out 10 items at a time, with each staying available to you for 14 days.

RBDigital is a combination of two formerly independent streaming services, OneClick Digital and Zinio. RBDigitalspecializes in streaming audiobooks. It includes over 6,000 titles published by Recorded Books.

The University of Fashion is a digital media service specifically tailored to exploring the fashion industry. Stream videos covering techniques like draping, CAD, and pattern making directly from fashion experts and industry leaders.

On top of the other offerings, the library also has an art gallery with free admission that is looking for submissions from local artists. Grab a tasty beverage or a snack from one of the cozy cafes. You can expand your knowledge of computers through free classes, and there is a summer reading program for adults and children alike that runs from May through July.
