Fertility treatment can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and insurance doesn’t always cover everything. The Hope for Fertility Foundation’s National Grant can help eligible couples cover some of the costs of infertility treatment, surrogacy or adoption.
What the Hope for Fertility Grant Offers
Hope for Fertility typically awards grants ranging from $250 to $10,000.
Grants are generally awarded twice a year, although the amount and frequency can change depending on available funding.
The money doesn’t come directly to you. If you’re selected, Hope for Fertility sends the grant directly to your fertility clinic or adoption agency to pay eligible costs.
Grant funds can help with qualifying fertility treatment, surrogacy or adoption expenses, but they don’t cover:
- Medications
- Legal fees
- Consulting or coaching services
- Third-party financing
- Insurance premiums or other insurance costs
The grant also can’t reimburse expenses you’ve already paid, so keep that in mind when planning treatment or adoption costs.
Who Qualifies?
Both partners must be U.S. citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents with valid green cards, and both must currently live in the United States.
Temporary or pending immigration statuses, including work visas, student visas, Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) and pending asylum status, don’t meet the program’s citizenship or permanent-residency requirement.
You’ll also need to meet the program’s other eligibility requirements:
- Have a physician-confirmed diagnosis of infertility
- Be legally married
- Work with a fertility clinic or adoption agency located in the United States
Secondary infertility counts as an infertility diagnosis.
LGBTQ couples are also welcome to apply, but they must meet the same eligibility requirements as other applicants, including legal marriage and a physician-confirmed infertility diagnosis.
Hope for Fertility doesn’t currently list a specific income cutoff among its published eligibility requirements.
Only one grant can be awarded per couple. You can submit only one application per grant cycle, but if you aren’t selected, you can apply again during a future cycle.
How to Apply
Before applying, Hope for Fertility asks applicants to watch its instructional video and review the Grant FAQ so they understand the requirements and documents they’ll need.
Then:
- Complete the application through the Hope for Fertility Grant application portal.
- Submit the required information and documentation.
- Pay the $50 application fee.
- Wait for the foundation to notify grant recipients by email.
Hope for Fertility considers the $50 application fee a donation that may be tax-deductible. The foundation says 100% of application fees go back into funding grants for selected couples.
2026–2027 Application Deadlines
The current grant cycle opened July 1, 2026.
Here are the important dates:
- July 1, 2026: Applications opened
- September 30, 2026 at 10:00 p.m. MST: Application deadline
- November 11, 2026: Grant recipients announced
- January 1, 2027: Next application cycle opens
- March 31, 2027: Next application deadline
If you miss the September deadline, you’ll have another opportunity to apply when the next cycle opens January 1.
