When a service member is hospitalized after a serious injury or illness, the bills don’t pause for recovery. Semper Fi & America’s Fund provides financial and family assistance through its Service Member & Family Support Program to help eligible service members, veterans and military families through hospitalization, recovery and beyond.
What Financial & Family Assistance Covers
This isn’t a single grant. Semper Fi & America’s Fund offers several types of assistance depending on what a service member or family needs:
- Bedside Financial Support for urgent expenses like travel, food, childcare, transportation and lodging while a loved one is hospitalized
- Housing Assistance for needs such as rent, mortgage payments, utilities, critical home repairs and accessibility modifications
- Transportation Assistance to help with transportation needs during recovery
- Visiting Nurse Program to help service members, veterans and families navigate medical care and coordinate treatment
- Annette Conway Caregiver Retreats to provide respite, education and support for military caregivers
- Specialized & Adaptive Equipment to help with medical and quality-of-life needs
- Skip’s Kids Program to support military children facing critical illness and other hardships
- Disaster Relief Program for emergency assistance with needs such as food, housing, transportation and temporary lodging after a disaster

Who Can Get Help?
Semper Fi & America’s Fund primarily serves critically wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans and military families from across the U.S. Armed Forces.
Its Service Member & Family Support Program specifically provides direct financial assistance and other support for combat-wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured service members and military families during hospitalization and recovery.
You don’t necessarily need to have been wounded in combat to reach out. The Fund’s broader mission also includes critically ill and injured service members and veterans, and individual programs have their own circumstances and eligibility considerations.
The Fund also provides housing-related assistance and allows people seeking help with homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness to identify that need when contacting the organization.

How to Ask for Help

The intake process asks for information about you and the service member, including contact information, current military status, branch of service, service history and location.
After you submit the form, a case manager will contact you using your preferred method of communication to learn more about your circumstances and determine what assistance may be available.
