The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art gives you a chance to catch the newest and freshest art from contemporary artists. While it’s not as big as some of the other contemporary art museums in the area, it’s one of the top San Jose museums for families to enjoy.

The Triton Museum of Art offers unique exhibits that might vary from month to month. With rotating artists and exhibits, the museum is always getting new things in. If you’re looking for free things to do in San Jose with a short amount of time, this museum is perfect!

The de Saisset Museum is nestled in the entrance of the Santa Clara University. It offers you a reprieve from the hustle of the city and allows you to take a step back in time.

While the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden isn’t necessarily a museum, you can enjoy the various botanical exhibits all around the garden. The gardens have roses of different varieties. Late spring is the best time to visit!

If you want to take a little drive to Santa Clara, the Intel Museum is interesting and features the history of the company. At the museum, you can learn how it got its start and even how the computer processors work!

MACLA gives visitors a chance to experience different exhibits at different times of the year. The museum always has free admission.

The Roberto Adobe and Sunol House Museum is not open every day of the week, but it’s always free when it is! If you visit the museum, be sure to check out the portion that features the history of San Jose.

The San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles is not free, but they do offer a “pay what you want” day on the first Friday of every month. They do not have a suggested donation posted, but you can pay anything to get in!
