The Arkansas LIHEAP benefit might help you pay for a portion of your Black Hills Energy bill. You might be able to get help through your local assistance office and you’ll need to apply for it through that office. The program has income guidelines you’ll need to meet along with other requirements.
The Salvation Army might be able to help you avoid shut-off of your power. You will need to apply for help through the Salvation Army. You’ll need to provide information on your household size and your income to get help. Help from the Salvation Army might be capped at $200 per family per year.
Catholic Charities could help you pay for a portion of your bill. They offer services for low-income families including help with rent, bills and utilities. You must apply for help through Catholic Charities. The organization does not require you to be a member of the Catholic church.
Colorado
Through the Colorado LEAP benefit, you could get help with your Black Hills Energy bill! The benefit helps those who are qualified by automatically applying a set amount to the bill each month. When you apply and are approved for help through LEAP, you can get a credit on your bill each month to lessen the burden of the bill. The amount you receive is based on your income and household size.
Colorado’s Energy Outreach program might be able to help you with your bill. If you have a larger than average bill, you have no way of paying it and you meet their guidelines, you could qualify for help through Energy Outreach.
The St. Vincent de Paul center might be able to help you with your bill. The center provides help to people in need as a charitable effort. You’ll need to meet certain requirements to qualify. You’ll also need to make sure you apply for the program through their main office.
Iowa
LIHEAP in Iowa might be able to help you with a portion of your bill. When you apply for and are approved for help through your community action agency, you might be able to get help with a credit on your bill.
The Salvation Army could help you pay for your bill one time. If you meet their requirements and you make under a certain amount, you could get up to $200 toward your bill. This is only available one time per year per family.
Are you at risk of having your electric shut off? You might be protected! The Iowa Winter Moratorium might be able to help you by disallowing Black Hills Energy from shutting your power off. If it is during a certain time of year or the average temperature is below a certain amount, you might be protected.
Kansas
The LIHEAP benefit from Kansas helps low-income families who qualify for assistance get the help they need. You’ll need to apply for help through your local community action agency to get assistance. The program may have certain requirements you’ll need to meet including income and household requirements. The help generally does not pay for your entire bill, but can take some of the burden off of paying your Black Hill Energy bill.
Catholic Charities might be able to help you with a one-time payment on your account. You’ll need to do a basic application through the organization. Once approved, they’ll provide you with a voucher to pay for your bill.
Montana
Montana LIHEAP helps those who are low-income and qualify for the program get help with their energy bill. You’ll need to apply through your community action agency and provide information on your income and your household size. You’ll also have to provide information on any assets you have.
The Salvation Army could help you pay for your bill. If you apply for and are approved for help through the Salvation Army, you could get up to the total $200 toward your bill. This benefit may only be available based on funding the Salvation Army has. Your household can only qualify for this help once per year.
Nebraska
If you apply and are approved for energy assistance through Nebraska, you could get a credit applied to your bill each month. You’ll need to provide information on your income, on your household size and on the total amount of assets you have to qualify for this help. You’ll also need to meet other requirements to get help with Nebraska LIHEAP.
Nebraska’s Energy Rescue could help you pay for your bill. Even if you are not qualified for help through the program, they have access to many other resources that could help you pay your bill. The organization does not require a shut-off notice, but if you have one it’s important to bring it with you to an application appointment as it could help you get assistance faster.
South Dakota
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program in South Dakota might be able to help you pay for a portion of your bill each month. The program runs from the late fall until the early spring to help you pay for your bill. You’ll need to apply for it through the community action office.
The Salvation Army could help you pay for your bill. If you’re approved for help through the organization, you’ll get a voucher you can apply to your Black Hills Energy Bill. The vouchers are only available one time per year, per family.
Catholic Social Services might be able to help those who do not qualify for help through South Dakota’s LIEAP benefit. You will need to provide information on your household and on any income. You don’t have to be a member of the Catholic church to get help.
Wyoming
The Wyoming LIEAP benefit could help you pay for a portion of your bill from month-to-month. You’ll need to apply for help through the local welfare office to get access to this benefit. The amount you could qualify for depends on any income you have and your household size.
Using the Salvation Army, you might be able to get help with your bill up to $200. The amount you qualify for is based on your income, your household size, the amount your bill is and if you have a shut-off notice from Black Hills Energy.
