Through the Colorado LEAP benefit, you could get help with your Black Hills Energy bill! The benefit helps those who are qualified by automatically applying a set amount to the bill each month. When you apply and are approved for help through LEAP, you can get a credit on your bill each month to lessen the burden of the bill. The organization does not require a shut-off notice, but if you have one it’s important to bring it with you to an application appointment as it could help you get assistance faster.
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program in South Dakota might be able to help you pay for a portion of your bill each month. The program runs from the late fall until the early spring to help you pay for your bill. You’ll need to apply for it through the community action office.
The Salvation Army could help you pay for your bill. If you’re approved for help through the organization, you’ll get a voucher you can apply to your Black Hills Energy Bill. The vouchers are only available one time per year, per family.
Catholic Social Services might be able to help those who do not qualify for help through South Dakota’s LIEAP benefit. You will need to provide information on your household and on any income. You don’t have to be a member of the Catholic church to get help.
