You will need to meet program qualifications to get help and qualify for a payment on your service.
The Salvation Army might be able to help if you’re struggling with an electric bill. They could help with a one-time payment toward your Empire District Electric account. You will need to meet income and other qualifications to get help through this program. Generally, they only offer help to each family once per year. If approved for assistance, you will get a voucher you can use toward your electric bill.
Missouri Customers

The amount you get depends on your income and other qualifying factors. You will need to meet the program requirements. You’ll also need to meet other qualifications the program has in place to get help with this. LIHEAP might only be available certain times of the year.
The OKC Salvation Army could help you if you are struggling to pay your bill. They usually have a cap of $200 on their electric bill assistance program. While this may not cover your entire bill, it could take some of the burden away of a big electric bill. The Salvation Army generally limits the amount of time they are able to help to once per year per family.
The Baptist General Convention is sometimes able to provide help to people who are low-income and struggling with utility bills. Help is based on donations and other factors, so it might not always be available. If you are in need, they might be also able to direct you to other resources if they’re unable to help you.
The Ministerial Alliance is a Christian-based organization and might be able to provide utility payment help to people who are struggling with their electric bills. They do not have help available all the time and there may be requirements you have to meet to get help.
