FREE Back to School Supplies in Prince George’s County, MD

Salvation Army, Prince George’s County will provide back to school supplies where possible to families in need. To get your free supplies, you must have a valid Maryland ID card, proof of income sources like a pay stub, DSS, or food stamp letter, proof of expenses like a electric, gas, oil, or water bill, and proof of residence. Not only do they provide school supplies, but also you can get free holiday assistance, free food, and assistance with your rent, utility, or water bill.

HOPE (Helping Other People through Empowerment) provides free school supplies and backpacks for children ages 5-10 years. Supplies are given on a first come, first serve basis.

Sowing Empowerment & Economic Development, Inc provides free clothing, school supplies, backpacks and more. They are located in Riverdale.

The Prince George Back to School Fair gives out as many backpacks as they can and also other school supplies. In 2017 they gave out 11,000 free backpacks. Afterwards, they give the extra supplies to the schools. The fair happens every August, the specific dates vary. As far as a location, the programming is growing so the location for this year is yet to be determined, but it will be somewhere in the county. You can find all the details on!

Pregnancy Aid Centers is mostly for pregnant moms and newborns, but they also offer children’s clothing size 0 through 6X. Their main number is 301-441-9150.

National Children’s Center runs thrift stores across the county. You can shop there for gently used furniture, clothing, small appliances and household goods. Hours are limited.

Bea Gaddy Family Prince George Center is a non-profit that provides toiletries, clothing, boots and other items to low income and working poor families. You can contact them at 410-563-2749.

Payne Memorial Church can provide clothing to anyone who needs assistance. General distributionof clothing is on the third Saturday between 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at 1701 Madison Avenue in Baltimore. Their number is 410-462-3800.
