Half Price Books offers 10% off books to all educators. You will need to renew your card every year to keep the discount active. Homeschoolers are required to show some sort of form proving that they participate in a state or local organization in order to qualify.

ThriftBooks

The Thriftbooks homeschool discount offers you a free used book with every four books you purchase. It’s a buy four, get one free deal.

EdAlive

Miacademy

Although no specific pricing information is listed for the Miacademy homeschool discount, their website does state that they offer “steep discounts” for families and sibling groups. This would obviously include homeschoolers.

Reading Eggs

Reading Eggs offers a homeschool discount! Up to four children can register for 41% off! It appears you will need to contact the company via phone or email prior to registering if you want to claim this discount.

There are many office supply stores, arts and craft stores and others that offer discounts for teachers and home educators.

Goodwill America

Many Goodwill locations offer discounts for teachers on certain days of the week. It never hurts to call your local store and ask!

JoAnns

JoAnns offers 15% off all purchases every day to teachers who enroll in their educator discount program. In order to receive this discount, you have to have current documentation or proof of membership in an official homeschool organization.

Michaels

Home school teachers can get a 15% discount on all Michaels purchases, including sale items, through the teacher program. However, there is a limit of one teacher discount per day. You can be verified instantly at checkout but you may need to provide some documentation, like an ID card.

Target

Target offers a seasonal Teacher Prep Event in late summer and early fall. During this period, teachers can save up to 15% on school supplies and other essentials.

Local Homeschool Discounts

The homeschool discounts in this section are specific to certain locations. Even if you don’t see any attractions near you listed here, it’s important to remember that many entertainment venues offer homeschool discounts during school hours. You can always call and ask!

SeaWorld

SeaWorld sometimes host Homeschool Days that offer discounted admission. This homeschool discount does not appear to be available at all times, however.

Arizona – Bookmans Teacher Discount

In Arizona, Bookmans offers a 20% discount on all purchases from the entertainment exchange. In order to get this discount, you have to sign up for Project: Educate. This offering is available to teacher, librarians, principals, learning specialist, homeschooler or substitute teacher.

Virginia – Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg periodically hosts discounted events for homeschoolers. You can find more information about these by following their social media channels and press releases. Here’s an example.

South Carolina – Big Air Trampoline Park

Homeschoolers can visit on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons with a discount. The homeschool rate is only available when the local schools are in session.

Tennessee – Pigeon Forge Area

There are a TON of homeschool discounts available in the Pigeon Forge area. This well-known tourist attraction is home to Dollywood and there are some truly incredible places in the area that are happy to accomodate homeschoolers with a discount.

Updates about Prior Homeschool Discounts

We’ve been reporting on homeschool discounts since 2017 and these programs have evolved quite a bit over that time. We’re adding this section to clarify the changes to the programs we’ve already reported on.

Barnes and Noble – DISCONTINUED

Barnes and Noble ended their Educator Discount on April 12, 2023. Anyone who was previously enrolled can receive a FREE year of their new Premium Membership during the transition.

Great Wolf Lodge – DISCONTINUED

Great Wolf Lodge previously advertised homeschool discounts but I have not been able to find any recent events. It appears that sometimes there are discounted rooms during homeschool conventions, but there does not appear to be a consistent Great Wolf Lodge homeschool discount any more.

Verizon Wireless – DISCONTINUED

The Verizon homeschool discount seems to have ended. To get the teacher discount, you now have to use id.me to verify your identity as a currently employed teacher at a K-12 or postsecondary school.

Is there an Amazon Prime homeschool discount?

There is no Amazon Prime homeschool discount. However, Amazon Prime does offer other discounts for students with an @edu email address, as well as other discounts for low income families and others.
