Central Alabama Electric Cooperative Payment Options Are Easy

Levelized billing makes it easy for you to pay your bill by making sure your bill is the same amount every month. CAEC will average out your electric usage over the course of a year to create equal payments each month.

The Peak Shaving Program gives you a chance to have a free feature added to your hot water heater. It will allow CAEC to reduce usage during certain peak hours. The program can help you save some money on your electric bill each month.

Since you receive capital credits for being a member of an electric co-op, you may be able to use those to help pay your bill. Some people may not even be aware of the capital credits they can receive from CAEC. Generally, customers will automatically receive a check for their credits each period. If you have not received a check, you will need to contact CAEC to find out if you have credits available.

Upgrade Your Home and Save on Your Central Alabama Electric Cooperative

Alabama’s weatherization program can include things like added insulation and changes to make your home more energy efficient. The program may help you replace appliances that are old or are not energy efficient. Some people who apply for the program may even be eligible for a new heating or cooling unit.

If you need to make upgrades to your home that weatherization won’t cover or you don’t qualify for weatherization, you may be eligible for the efficiency loan from Central Alabama Electric Cooperative. It is a low-interest loan that can help you with things like appliances and insulation.

If you have had to replace your hot water heater or your heat pump, you may be able to get a rebate from CAEC. While the rebates are not meant to cover the entire cost of the appliance, you may be able to get the full amount back depending on the price you paid.

The DIY energy audit is a completely free program you can use from CAEC to help see how much energy you are using and where that energy is going. If you want to learn more about your usage and what you can do to reduce it, the energy audit can be helpful. It may be able to help you determine whether you need weatherization services for your home.

CAEC members contribute to Project Share. Central Alabama Electric Cooperative takes the money in and uses it to help people who are struggling pay their bill. You will need to apply for the funds from Project Share through the Salvation Army. If you qualify, the amount you are eligible for will be applied directly to your CAEC bill.

Catholic Charities can help with utility bills among other things. They do not require you to be a member of the church but have religious information available to help you. They may also be able to help through credit counseling and financial classes.

From housing to utility assistance and even food assistance, Sowing Seeds of Hope does their best to help low-income individuals get back on their feet. If they are unable to provide you with the assistance you’re looking for, they may be able to refer you to other organizations.

Your co-op connections card can help you save money on other things you may purchase. It is available to all members and comes with savings that can help reduce your cost of prescriptions, other utility services and everyday purchases.

Each year, Central Alabama Electric Cooperative sends several 11th-graders to Washington, D.C. They learn more about electric, the economy and what kind of impact it’s going to have on their lives. The co-op has several requirements for students to attend this free trip including a 2.5 GPA and a desire to learn more about their community.

Central Alabama Electric Cooperative can help you pay for college. They award scholarships each year based on both need and merit. Individuals who are pursuing a degree or who have interest in the energy industry should apply for this scholarship.
