Eastern Virginia

The Legal Aid Society of Eastern VA might be able to help if you’re in the eastern part of the state. The program works for people who are low-income in the northernmost counties of the state. They might also be able to help people who are living in and around the D.C. area. The program uses attorneys who work on a volunteer basis to help low-income individuals get assistance with legal representation.

The Fairfax Bar Association might help if you’re in Fairfax County. The bar association does not offer help directly to people who need it, but they do provide information on attorneys throughout the area who are willing to work for free. You might be able to use these attorneys if you do not qualify for one of the legal aid programs.

Rappahannock Area

Rappahannock Legal Services might be able to help if you need legal aid in the Rappahannock area of Virginia. If you’re in this area and you’re unable to afford an attorney, you could get help through the legal services division. There are a variety of programs they offer including free legal representation, attorneys who are able to answer your legal questions and more. You might be able to qualify if you meet their income requirements as well as other requirements.

Roanoke Valley

The Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley might be able to help you if you’re in the area and you’re unable to afford your own attorney. You will need to meet income guidelines to qualify for the program.

Shenandoah Valley

Residents of Winchester and the surrounding areas might be able to get help through Blue Ridge Legal Services. The program can help you if you’re in need of assistance and you meet their income qualifications. You might also be able to find an attorney who can provide you with answers to questions and can even represent you if your case goes to court.

Southwest Virginia

You could get help through the Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society. The organization is intended for people who are low-income and might be able to help you find an attorney who can represent you without you having to pay anything. The program has many options available that could help you with your court case and could make it easier to get representation.

The Virginia Bar Association doesn’t offer direct help or any type of Virginia legal aid, but they might be able to make it easier for you to find that legal aid. They have a listing of attorneys who might be willing to take on cases for free and who might volunteer their time for people who are low-income. You can use the directory to find an attorney in your area who might be able to represent you.

Read this before going to the ACLU

Going to the ACLU with your civil legal case might not get you the best results. In fact, the ACLU takes on very few cases that they hear related to different civil issues. Even though they aren’t able to offer legal representation to everyone who needs it, you can find a lot of resources on their site to help you know your rights!
