If you’re low-income and you have a civil legal case in Virginia, you might be able to get help. We figured out how to get Virginia legal aid depending on the issue you’re facing. You could get help from an attorney who can answer questions, from legal clinics and even with finding representation for your case. If you’re facing a criminal legal case, be sure to check with the public defender’s office.

You might be able to get help through Virginia Legal Aid. The organization has programs for people who are low-income and need help with attorney representation. There are a lot of options available that might make it easier for you to get an attorney depending on your case and your income level. There are also options that might make it easier for you to get answers to your legal questions.
The Legal Aid Society of Virginia might be able to provide assistance if you’re struggling with a civil legal case. They have attorneys who are volunteering to work on a pro bono basis. They help people who are in need of representation. If you qualify through the Legal Aid Society, you might not have to pay anything.
The Virginia Poverty Law Center could help if you need an attorney to represent you. They could help you with the options you need to get legal representation. Additionally, they might be able to make it easier for you to get answers to legal questions and more. Depending on your legal situation, attorneys could help you with representation and questions about the issues you have.
Clinics from VA law schools could help.
The University of Virginia School of Law provides legal clinics that might be able to help you with Virginia legal aid. The program works for people who are low-income. It might make it easier for them to get answers to legal questions they have. The clinics are run by students. Bar certified attorneys are available who can help you make sure the answers students give are correct.
The Regent Legal Clinic might be able to provide some help to people who are low-income and cannot get any other help in Virginia for their legal case. If you qualify for help through one of the clinics, you could get help with the options they have available.
GMU provides legal assistance resources. These resources might make it easier for you to save yourself money especially if you’re unable to afford an attorney. If you use these resources, it might make it easier for you to find an attorney who can help you with legal representation in VA.
Different regions in Virginia could provide help!
There are some regions of Virginia that might be able to help you if you’ have a civil legal case. Check with your county to learn about which resources are available and are specific to your area.
The Central VA Legal Aid Society might be able to help with Virginia legal aid. If you’re low-income and you have a legal case, but you can’t afford an attorney, you might be able to get help through this program. You could also get help with legal aid resources through the organization. Attorneys could help with representation, questions about legal issues and more. They generally only provide help for civil cases.
The Legal Aid Justice Center might be able to help. They work by helping create justice for everyone in Virginia. They have attorneys who are bar certified and might be able to help you with your legal case. Depending on the civil issue you have, you might even qualify for additional benefits through center.
The Legal Aid Society of Eastern VA might be able to help if you’re in the eastern part of the state. They serve many different counties and cities in the area and they might be able to help you find Virginia legal aid. Their bar certified attorneys work on a pro bono basis and might be able to help you depending on the issues you’re facing. You could get an attorney who provides free consultations, additional help through various programs and even legal representation in a court setting for free!
If you need Northern Virginia legal aid, you might be able to get it through the legal services of Northern VA. The program works for people who are low-income in the northernmost counties of the state. They might also be able to help people who are living in and around the D.C. area. The program uses attorneys who work on a volunteer basis to help low-income individuals get assistance with legal representation.
The Fairfax Bar Association might help if you’re in Fairfax County. The bar association does not offer help directly to people who need it, but they do provide information on attorneys throughout the area who are willing to work for free. You might be able to use these attorneys if you do not qualify for one of the legal aid programs.
Rappahannock Legal Services might be able to help if you need legal aid in the Rappahannock area of Virginia. If you’re in this area and you’re unable to afford an attorney, you could get help through the legal services division. There are a variety of programs they offer including free legal representation, attorneys who are able to answer your legal questions and more. You might be able to qualify if you meet their income requirements as well as other requirements.
The Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley might be able to help you if you’re in the area and you’re unable to afford your own attorney. You will need to meet income guidelines to qualify for the program.
Residents of Winchester and the surrounding areas might be able to get help through Blue Ridge Legal Services. The program can help you if you’re in need of assistance and you meet their income qualifications. You might also be able to find an attorney who can provide you with answers to questions and can even represent you if your case goes to court.
You could get help through the Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society. The organization is intended for people who are low-income and might be able to help you find an attorney who can represent you without you having to pay anything. The program has many options available that could help you with your court case and could make it easier to get representation.

The Virginia Bar Association doesn’t offer direct help or any type of Virginia legal aid, but they might be able to make it easier for you to find that legal aid. They have a listing of attorneys who might be willing to take on cases for free and who might volunteer their time for people who are low-income. You can use the directory to find an attorney in your area who might be able to represent you.
Read this before going to the ACLU
Going to the ACLU with your civil legal case might not get you the best results. In fact, the ACLU takes on very few cases that they hear related to different civil issues. Even though they aren’t able to offer legal representation to everyone who needs it, you can find a lot of resources on their site to help you know your rights!
