FREE School Supplies in Suffolk County, NY!

Address the Homeless provides backpacks with school supplies to homeless residents of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. They also provide one day summer camps and coordinate applications for HUD-subsidized housing.

Colonial Youth & Family Services provides school supplies, summer camperships, Christmas gifts, Thanksgiving food baskets and emergency food assistance to students in the Wm. Floyd School District.

Esperanza Homeless Children & Youth Program provides school supplies, clothing, food and supplemental education support to migrant children between the ages of 3 and 22.

Food Not Bombs provides school supplies, clothing, books and vegetarian food at weekly Food Shares. These events are held in the following locations:

  • Farmingville – Thursdays @ 7pm at Horseblock Rd & Woodycrest Dr.
  • Hempstead – Sundays @ 2pm at W. Columbia St. & Station Plaza
  • Huntington – Tuesdays @ 7pm at E. 6th St. & Fairground Ave.
  • Wyandanch – Saturdays @ Noon at the Martin L. King Jr. Health Center, Straight Path & Commonwealth Dr.

Friends of Karen provide school supplies, birthday gifts, holiday gifts and grocery gift cards to families of children who struggle with a life-threatening illness.

Harry Chapin Food Bank and Humanitarian Center provides school supplies, food and pet food. There is no documentation required for this service.

Hempstead Back to School Celebration takes place every year. This event features free school supply giveaways, health screenings, eye exams, dental counseling, raffles, refreshments, children’s activities and more!

Housing and Human Services Division of Youth Bureau helps coordinate school supplies, clothing, food, and toy drives throughout the community. They also provide free new prom dresses to girls who can’t afford them!

Kid-Too-Kid Foundation Inc. provides school supplies, art supplies and tutoring support to children between the ages of 3 and 15. They support children in the hope of encouraging artistic and creative abilities, empathy and compassion. Service is available in English and Spanish.

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal provides backpacks and essential school supplies to low income students in the Wyandanch area.

Spanish Pentacostal provides school supplies, clothing, Christmas gifts and food to those in need throughout the Suffolk County area. Please note this is a God’s Provision location and you cannot receive service from more than one God’s Provision location.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church provides assistance with school supplies, holiday food baskets, transportation to doctor’s appointments, gas cards, groceries, and more. To qualify, you must provide proof of address within the parish boundaries of this church in Lake Ronkonkoma.

St. Philip Neri Parish Social Ministry assists with emergency needs, such as food and school supplies. They may also assist with transportation, financial assistance, and lending medical equipment.

Stuff-a-Bus School Supplies gather backpacks, lunch boxes and school supplies for students in need. These items are distributed to under-served schools and Untied Way of Long Island partner agencies. Contact the United Way or your local school counselor for more information.

UJA-Federation’s Long Island Tov B’Yachad Supplies for Success event distributes backpacks filled with supplies every year. In 2017, they distributed about 1,200 backpacks!

Veterans’ Food Pantry provides school supplies, food, personal care items, household products and pet food to veterans, military and their families. There are locations in Huntington Station, Lindenhurst and Freeport.

Youth Council provides school supplies and backpacks to Patchogue Medford High School Students between 6-12 grade.

Christ the King Roman Catholic Church provides clothing, food, transportation and financial assistance to residents of the Commack area.

Community Action of Southold Town provides a walk-in clothing closet with new and used donated items. You must reside in Southold Town to use this service.

Cornerstone Christian Ministries Outreach Services provides a clothing ministry for those in need. They also offer a children’s study, tutoring programs, vacation Bible school summer camp and more. They serve Medford and Brookhaven.

Episocopal Church of St. John the Baptist provides food and some clothing to low income families in Eastport, East Moriches, Center Moriches, Moriches, Manorville, Mastic and Shirley.

Faith Alive Ministries provides clothing, food and other resources to residents of the Islip area.  Please note this is a God’s Provision location and you cannot receive service from more than one God’s Provision location.

Harbor Church provides clothing, household items and emergency food to the Suffolk County community. They are located in Center Moriches.

Helping Hands Rescue Mission provides clothing, including coats, hats, sweaters, scarves, gloves, mittens, socks and more. They also provide household items and food. They serve the Huntington Station community.

Hope for Youth provides shelter, clothing, food, educational assistance, medical care, living skills training, counseling services and more to homeless or runaway youth (ages 1 2-20) who are in a crisis and need shelter.

Joseph’s Storehouse distributes clothing, food and kitchen items to Suffolk County residents in need.

Love Outreach Ministries provides clothing and food to Suffolk residents. The service is free but you may be required to complete an intake form with general family and income information.

Mobile Food Pantry provides free food and clothing at nine distribution sites throughout Suffolk County. You can find the mobile food pantry at Coram, Lake Ronkonkoma, Wyandanch, Central Islip, Bellport, Shirley, Port Jefferson Station, Riverhead and Patchogue.

Nearly New Thrift Shop provides clothing to low income families or those affected by tragedy (such as fire or theft).

Never Alone, Never Afraid provides clothing, food, shelter and holiday toys to homeless children and their families.

Noah’s Ark Outreach provides clothing, food, counseling, ESL and SSL services and a Christmas outreach dinner to qualifying minors in Suffolk County. Clothing is distributed on Tuesdays between 3pm and 4pm.

North Fork Parish Outreach provides clothing, food, limited furniture/appliances and some financial assistance to Southold Town residents.

Salvation Army in Greater New York provides clothing, food, and more to Suffolk County residents who need it. Financial assistance is offered when funds are available.

St. James Roman Catholic Church provides clothing, food, furniture, household items, holiday assistance, advocacy and referrals to anyone who lives in the parish boundaries. A soup kitchen and program for children experiencing parental divorce is also available. The parish includes parts of Islip, Smithtown, and Brookhaven.

St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church provides clothing, transportation assistance, food, counseling, employment referrals and soem financial assistance to residents of East Islip, and Great River.

St. Patrick’s Hospitality Center provides clothing, meals, rent assistance, prescriptions, LIPA, telephone payments, water payments and/or bus fare to those who reside in the parish boundaries. The parish boundaries are limited to a certain part of the Bayshore area.

Sts. Phillip and James Roman Catholic Church provides clothing, food, holiday help and some financial assistance to those who live within the parish boundaries.  The parish boundaries include parts of St. James and the town of Smithtown.

St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church provides clothing, food, home delivered meals, holiday gift baskets, transportation, budgeting assistance, furniture, and more to anyone who resides in the parish boundaries. This parish serves the Hauppauge zip code 11788.

Thursday’s Child serves those living with HIV/AIDS by providing clothing, winter coats, holiday gifts, personal care items, appliances, transportation vouchers and more.
