How to Be Homeless in America

How to Be Homeless in America

Many people have asked us how to be homeless in America. It’s a heartbreaking question, but we know it’s one that needs answers. And, unfortunately, these answers can be difficult to find anywhere else on the web.

With broken hearts, we’ve assembled this guide to help anyone who is facing homelessness in America. Our goal is to help you as much as we are able, even though we don’t distribute any funds ourselves.

If you have specific questions about homelessness, please let us know in the comments!

Where to Go

If you’re wondering where to go, Kelsey has some great answers in this post. She also has a list of seven things that everyone needs to know about homeless shelters. If you’re wondering how to be homeless, these are essential.

How to Charge Your Phone

You will need a phone to connect to employers, benefits offices and housing opportunities. Without a phone, life is much harder. You can get a free phone (and free service) with these tips… and once you have it, you can find 10 ways to charge your phone here!

How to Get Money

Many people who become homeless in America turn to panhandling as a way to make money. However, many areas have passed laws that make it more complicated than it used to be. Protect yourself by knowing the law.

Look for homeless resources.

We’ve found some really amazing homeless resources. You can find our full list here.
